Masturbation is a healthy sexual behavior. Like other behaviors, when over practiced or addicted it can lead to both psychological and physiological imbalances.

Sometimes we fail to see ourselves as a part of the whole natural world. Vetenarians can tell you the effect on an animal who becomes involved in this habit. It comes to consume his whole life and the animal has to be laid to rest.
As a lifelong nurse, the most debased human I ever knew had previously been a brilliant young, beautiful school teacher. In her mid twenties I knew her as a mentally ill person diagnosed with schizophrenia. Somewhere along the way, masturbation came to totally consume her life, and she had totally lost her dignity as a human, behaving more like an animal. There was a distinctive, terrible stench about her which I have observed in others who also practiced the habit.
A teenage boy lived one school year in my home. I did not know he had this habit until I recognized the stench. I had to put his bedding outside to air daily as the odor was so overpowering. He told me he intended to spend his life in prison. The themes of his conversations were murder, killing babies, violating others in every way he could think of, etc. He threatened to murder me more than once. My home became an intense battleground as I prayerfully fought principalities for the life of that precious young man. I believe the dietary restrictions I required of him if he was to stay in my home gave him the profound edge to where he was able to overcome that vile habit. His adoptive parents believed the year in my home was pivotal for him, turning his life into more constructive channels. He was able to finish high school, marry, and have children without getting into the trouble he had anticipated for himself.
Our Creator designed that sexuality be a gift to each individual as well as society at large. Clearly, humans are designed to socialize in families. When our sexual powers are perverted to TAKE for one's self rather than GIVE to another, the effect on the individual is always toward disease and destruction. Authors a century ago were much more informed of debasing nature of masturbation than today.

You may or may not have heard of Norman Walker. He lived to be 105 and wrote a number of books on health. He was a pioneer in the field of health and in my opinion extremely opinionated. He was the kind of guy you would want on your side as an advisor, a real treasure. He would be very high on my list of people who have lived in the last century that I would like to have met. His books smack of research. Like many people in his position (i.e. freelance scientist) the process he uses to reach the conclusions he does are not always obvious. This said, and getting to your original question, I submit the following. This is somewhat of a paraphrase so get the books to read about it in depth. Basically what he said was this. There is a delicate balance that should be maintained in the cerebral spinal fluid. Excessive masturbation (actually I think what he really meant was any masturbation) would upset this delicate balance. He mention there was cerebral spinal fluid contained in semen. He lead one to believe psychological problems would be and are encountered as a result. There is no doubt in my mind the man was a genius, far ahead of his time, very well respected by his peers. There are many such people that pop up in all of our minds. Too bad there are no resources and or interest to explore such hypotheses. Please cut me a little slack on this one, it’s been a while since I went over the aforementioned info.
