Re: JL message (rethink your heros)

Hey V, I agree with you on this one. I've been thinking, (three words guaranteed to put fear into the heart of my partner), IMHO, idealism, without action is worthless. It becomes nothing but hot air in an already overheated world.

I believe the greater sickness consuming society today, is the idolisation of people, (read celebraties, sports people, actors, models, pop stars,etc), who do not effect change, who do nothing worthwhile, (other than maybe being good at their profession), but are worshiped by the masses, to the point of hysteria. These people, and images of these people fill the media, to the exclusion of the real heros in our world, the quiet achievers, who never seem to get the recognition they deserve.

John Lennon became what he professed to despise, a pampered fat cat, living in luxury, who cared no more for the people who put him there, than he cared for a house brick. He was an idealist, a good song writer and an average performer, not a prophet or god. I find it interesting the way in which these celebraties are elevated to a status beyond any of their earthly achievments when they die. John Lennon, Michael Jackson, etc etc. Lol, its true, everyone's a top bloke when they're dead.
