Blog: exfoliative cheilitis cure
6 years....for 6 six damn years I was suffering from chronic peeling lips,in medical terms known as Exfoliative Cheilitis...I was uncomfortable in my own skin, couldn't socialize, couldn't speak up with friends and family, dropped out of college for a year and a half, was low in self esteem, couldn't talk with girls....As a result, I developed social anxiety disorder, OCD and depression....tried everything to cure the chronic peeling lips...I tried topical steroids, various lip balms, natural crap but couldn't heal my E.C....after years of agony and helplessness, i found it....i found the cure.
First and foremost its important to realize that E.C is just a chronic wound caused by excessive licking, lip picking or stress or a combination of all of em'....the body protects automatically tries to protect ur bare, wounded lips by forming an extra layer which eventually dries out and transforms into dead skin.......alright here it is....Go to a drug store and fetch a cream with the following composition...ALOE VERA EXTRACT AND VITAMIN E ACETATE......apply the cream on ur lips at least 3 times a day........don't ever let ur lips dry out and don't allow ur lips to come in contact with water without applying the cream....... trust me people, we r gonna kick E.C's candyass...spread the message to others if ur E.C is cured....!! hit me up with ur feedback....!!

I posted some information in regards to my cheilitis situation that has lasted for around 1 year 1/2 now (since maybe 5/12/11). I have gone through various stages especially the stage of depression and not wanting to go out, be seen and embarrassment. Thank God now I am able to go to work everyday, go out and enjoy myself, date and be seen in public again. The crusting and inflammation has changed significantly and the build up is not as bad. I am still experimenting with which method is going to end up being the best out of the three things I am using. I will tell you this that each case is different and know that not everything will work for everybody because our cases, though some may be the same, are usually different. There are numerous cases, causes and symptoms of cheilitis. My case was diagnosed as solar cheilitis meaning of the sun. This is not the sole cause but contributed to the worsening of it. I tried a lot of things from prescribed steroid cream, aquaphor, Vaseline, cutting out gluten, soy, processed foods etc...This helped as well as a few other things. I just don't want to mention too much to seem as if I am giving medical advice but I do have pictures to show you my progress from when this first happened to now. My email address is Henloc1@yahoo.com. Anyone wanting information and any way I can help send me a message on here ort by e mail and I would be glad to tell you what I've done as well as the only documented case I have came across on a person being permanently healed.

READ !!!!!!!!!!!!!! READ !!!!!!!!!!!!! READ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! READ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!READ!!!!!!!
The only reason you may have stopped having the syptoms is because what ever cream you are applying is acting as a barrier from what ever it is your lips are allergic to.
You haven't even cured it accourding to you, you have to apply this cream 3 times a day thats not a cure !!!
After having read one of the cure stories I decided to take the advice of not applying anything to the lips at all, to stop all use of creams on to the lips.
As soon as I did this within a day and a half I saw improvemet.
Do not apply anything on to your lips. I repeat stop applying things on to your lips it only makes the problem worse not better. It might feel better as it adds moisture temporarily but then shortly worsens the situation you've got to stop it straight away.
Also change your toothpaste to an organic one as soon as possible and only brush your teeth twice a day maximum. Stop using any kind of mouthwash temporarily just to see if you can see a link with the improvement when not using mouthwash.
There is no cream that can cure the problem instead you have to eliminate the cause of your problem in your daily life. (Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Vaseline)
Use organic toothpaste and even then it may be that fluoride is part of the problem so even an organic toothpaste containing fluoride will not help if this is part of the problem just get an organic one that is fluoride free however that must be determined by a process of elimination either way switch to an organic toothpaste immediately and stop the use of mouthwash for the time being.
SO TO SUMMARISE :
STOP applying anything to your lips just drink water when you need to hydrate them.
Notice a link between your lips getting better the longer ago you have brushed your teeth. For example if the last time you brushed you teeth was in the morning and its now the evening you should notice that they are at there least worst late in the evening, before rebrushing again prior to going to bed.
It is not a cronic wound it is an allergic reaction to something perhapse toothpaste mouth wash and vaseline.
It will take a few days to see results but should work either way you must switch to an organic toothpaste stop the use of mouthwash until you have things under control and DO NOT apply any sort of lip balm on your lips for now, and certainly not vaseline.

It's true, it's just a temporary solution, but I perosnally would suggest we use it in the mean time, but it's up to you all. HOWEVER, just because we have a temporary solution doesn't mean we should stop searching for a cure.
Suave Skin Solutions - Revitalizing with vitamin E. (<- This one is WAY better for me, I've only tried this brand, but please experiment and see if any other works better so you can share with us.)
OR
Perrigo - Nystatin Ointment USP. (<-Don't know if the brand matters.)

Hello, everyone, a few years ago I posted on a couple of C.E. forums/sites a way to 'manage' C.E. by using Nystatin Ointment. Nystatin makes it so that the lips peel at a slower rate, so instead of your lips peeling once a day everyday, they begin to peel by the third day (<- for me).
Well a few weeks ago, I accidentally came across a much better way to control C.E. which is applying "Suave Skin Solutions - Revitalizing with vitamin e" directly to your lips every day. I haven't experimented much with it (such as how l many times a day it should be put on, and how many days it lasts without missing a day of treatment), but from what I've gathered, if you put this lotion on once a day when you wake up, you can subdue a C.E. outbreak for weeks, if not months, maybe even years. I use it 5 days a week straight with no peeling, but I get lazy on the weekend, so they begin peeling again. I would advise that you don't get lazy.
I suggest everyone experiment and see what works better for you & share it on any C.E. site/forum, please.
