I think your friend's problems might be related to the fact that they have extended contacts. I guess everyone is different because you say you wear extended too.. I just don't think it's healthy to not take them out at night, even if they say it is safe.. At least at night it lets your eyes breathe, right .. If I were him I'd switch to a box of daily/weekly's and see if that doesn't help..?
Yes I think it is possible to at least minimize your prescription ! But it requires daily exercising/relaxing and a committment to stick with the program for however long it takes... This is where most everybody fails - including me who had to stop for a while because life got too busy.. If someone has been dependent on glasses since they were a child (like me too) it is not going to happen overnight .. |:
I started out reading books about natural vision improvement from the Library. BATES was the one who came out with the theory/methods and then there have been other people since him who have written their own books using his methods and incorporating their own methods to it.. Basically the theory behind near/farsightedness is that the eyes are over stressed and strained. In myopia there are certain muscles that pulls the eye into an elongated shape and in farsightedness there are other muscles of the eye that are stressed/strained that are pulling it short and flat.. This causes the vision abnormalities. That's the bare bones of BATES' theory..
Last October I purchased the Vision For Life Program over the internet. It was relatively cheap. They guarantee a full money back guarantee if in 6 months you don't see any results, so that's not too bad.. (I'm not advocating VFL. There are several of them out there all teaching relatively the same thing..) I tried the VFL program for 2 months at which time I went to the eyedoctor. Although my vision did not improve enough to improve a diopeter, I was able to see the last line of the Snellen chart and have NEVER been able to do so before with my full prescription. This means my vision had improved with my full prescription from 20/30 to 20/20 !
Since January I had to stop. Just couldn't incorporate the time into my life..
Just recently I have joined 2 Forums and have learned a lot. Right now I am trying another method which is supposed to work faster and that is incorporating + lenses to the program ! I am nearsighted like you. This is what i am doing now :
-Reduced my prescription +1 diopeter - so from -5.75 to -4.75 and -5 to -4. I do not wear my full prescription any more.
-On computer and when reading wear my reduced prescription (contacts) and wear the +2.5 reading glasses on top. (or sometimes I don't wear any prescription for reading. I can't see the computer without my glasses though so I wear my reduced prescription/reading glasses)
- Wear pinholes when I am not wearing my reduced lenses for far (like tv watching in evening)
- Do VFL Program for 20 minutes every day. Also Do some hypnotism with Bates method.
As you can see this is a real committment (: I hope to minimize my prescription at least to minimal - I would be very happy..
I hope that it was ok for me to post my answer to you here as this is a completely different subject ((: If you should get into improving your vision naturally I wish you the best of luck. If your prescription is minimal like -1,-2,-3 I'd say you have an even greater chance of reversing it!
