I am not a medical doctor, but I do know that fasting is not appropriate when nutritional deficiencies are present. If you are well-nourished and maintaining a
healthy Diet and necessary supplementation between fasting, fasting is safe and beneficial. Your doctor is correct about calcium being drawn from the bones into the blood when prolonged deficiencies are present. Provided you are not fasting for lengthy periods of time this would not be a problem. There is some calcium present in
The Master Cleanse formula which comes from both the maple syrup and lemon. I cannot say for a fact what the white substance you are passing is, but if any calcium is being leached from the bones in order to be utilized by the blood it would not be passed through the bowel as you have described. Have you ever had any tests involving the use of barium? Barium can remain in the digestive tract and be expelled as white matter during a cleanse.
If you are uneasy about calcium loss during fasting there are a couple of options available. You can supplement
The Master Cleanse with liquid minerals that are readily absorbed...usually taste pretty nasty (bitter and metallic), but work very well. Or you can switch to a juice fast that includes lots of green vegetables. Trying a juice fast might be a good experiment for you to see if you still pass the white substance. If you're
juicing a lot of calcium-rich foods and still passing it then you can rest assured that the white material is not calcium.
