a hearty congratulations on completing a 30 day water fast, perhaps you would like to share your personal experiences of this when you have the time, such as detox symptoms (if any) and strength/weakness; mental reactions and so on which would be of benefit to all of us here.
HOW TO BREAK A FAST.
The genuine return of hunger means that solid high water content food can be used but eaten slowly and chewed thoroughly before swallowing. Start with two medium oranges/apples/grapes in season, repeated twice more on the first day. Build up the quantity of food so that by the fourth day I would have fruit in season for breakfast followed by a small salad for lunch and dinner. Do not eat after 6.00pm & do not overeat.
The nurse you refer to could have given you a death sentence in breaking the fast with meat; there are quite a number of cases on record with people breaking their fasts after a prolonged fast with meat (a very concentrated source of protein) and where this stuck in the intestines like glue and where they actually lost their lives. PLEASE DO NOT DO SO.
Mainstream nurses and Doctors have very little if any knowledge of the fasting process.
IF GENUINE HUNGER HAS NOT RETURNED.
You are advised to break your fast with fresh fruit/vegetable juices (orange with apple or carrot juice by itself are favorites) and where dilution is not necessary. Sip slowly over time and chew the juice as you would any other food. Do this for the first two days and then high water content solid food with fruit in season and then progress by the fourth day as above. Eat only according to appetite. You will also find that you will be satisfied with less food post-fast than pre-fast.
If you do see the need for meat I would leave this until after the first week to ten days because of its concentration and difficulty with digestion. Fish and white meat such as chicken generally are considered to be a healthier option than red meats.
The best protein sources at this time will be nuts, avocados & legumes of all kinds. Sprouted beans are also a good source of protein and where you will need more protein within the refeeding period than while eating after the refeeding period (Shelton).
Enemas were considered to be a pernicious practice by the early Hygienists and unnecessary as your bowels will move again in their own good time. Forcing measures such as this are considered to be enervating and energy-draining.
