Hi, the problem most of the women on this forum have is that their doctors are ignorant of the effects of mirena and just don't believe that the mirena is the cause of the symptoms they are having. There is no point in many cases of discussing what will happen after removal, as the doctors standard view is that ' your symptoms are in your head, mirena doesn't cause the symptoms and you should not remove it and that the drug in mirena will leave your body within hours of removal'. Many women here have had to resort to lying about why they want it removed just to get the thing out. In my case the doctor that inserted mirena just dismissed my symptoms and treated me like I was a bit mad or stupid. I didn't have the money or means to travel 800km to see a gyno so didn't really have a choice but to take it out myself.
After removal I read all that I could on this and other forums to educate myself about what to expect. The problem is that everyone is different so everyones experience post removal will be different. Some recover quickly , with no crash or excessive bleeding, some have a terrible time with many post removal problems. No doctor can tell you what will happen to you as an individual, its a waste of money.
I found that Iodine
supplementing, and bio-identical progesterone cream helped me through the worst of the post removal effects, and I'm now pretty well recovered. But again this was just my experience!!
Anyway, sorry for the long post, and best of health for all on this journey.
