I started the
Iodine supplementation yesterday and am struggling a bit today. Suggestions would be appreciated.
Here’s what I was taking prior to starting the iodine:
- Ascorbic Acid powder, 2000 mg 3-5 times a day
- Magnesium: transdermal application of lotion once a day (don’t remember the amount); oral supplementation with Magnesium Citramate (magnesium and malic acid) and/or Magnesium Citrate powder—daily amount varies but try to take to just below bowel tolerance
- Vitamin K
- Armour thyroid, 90 mg
- Levothyroxine, 25 mcg—just started one week ago
- Probiotics
- Adrenal complex (2 caps = 10,000 IU beta carotene, 500 mg ascorbic acid, 60 mg pantothenic acid, 15 mg zinc, 360 mg adrenal [freeze dried, bovine], 150 mg licorice root extract, and 100 mg Siberian ginseng)—taking 4-5 caps per day
- L-glutamine, approximately 1250 mg 2 times a day
- Cod liver oil, 1-3 tsp a day
- Vitamin D, 4,000 IU once a day
- B-12/Folic Acid, 1 per day (don’t have the amount handy)
- B-12/Folic Acid injection 2 times per week
- Intravenous Meyers cocktail with added magnesium, once a week
After doing a lot of reading at the CureZone site, I decided to start with the iodine. I have Lugol’s
Iodine that I bought a few years back (for FBD but never took). The label doesn’t specify the %.
- On Saturday night, I started salt loading, just one dose (1/4 teaspoon = 500 mg)
- On Sunday, I continued with the salt, ¼ teaspoon mixed with 2000 mg ascorbic acid in 8
ounces of water. I took 5 doses, approximately 2 hours apart. Each glass of c/salt was followed with 12
ounces of plain water. The first four went down just fine. When it was time to take the 5th dose, I had a harder time getting it down.
- I took one vertical drop of the Lugol’s in a glass of water in the afternoon.
- I painted two vertical drops of the Lugol’s over the mysentery in the evening.
- I took 100 mg of selenium (l-selenomethionine) in the evening.
- This morning, I took another dose of the C with 500 mg salt in 8 ounces; hard to get down; followed with 12
ounces plain water. Also took another 100 mg of selenium (l-selenomethionine).
Here’s what I’ve been feeling:
- By evening last night, brain was starting to feel foggy; trouble with memory
- Rapid heartbeat at bedtime (decided to drop the 25 mcg of Levothyroxine today to see if that helps)
- Had difficulty sleeping; also hands felt markedly puffy/swollen; urinated several times throughout the night
- This morning, brain fog, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, nausea, frequent urination (clear)
Any suggestions for alterations/additions would be greatly appreciated. I realize some detox reaction may be likely, but I’m just trying to go slow and keep it as manageable as possible. I work full time, am a part-time graduate student, and have two very busy children. I’m out of sick time at work due to adrenals crashing in the fall, so I need to be able to keep working. I suppose the thing I’d most like to clear up is the foggy head/memory issues followed by the fatigue. I will try a salt bath, but I may not be able to take one until tomorrow evening.
