Hi all:
I posted a couple of times about a week ago. I attempted to start supplementing with
Iodine a week ago Sunday but stopped after a few days because of pins and needles sensations I was experiencing. Not the kind of pins and needles when you have a foot or hand that "falls asleep." This felt more like someone jabbing me hard with a pin. It occurred in random parts of my body (not just hands/feet).
At the same time I started supplementing with iodine, I started the salt pushes. I would take 1/4 tsp. of
Sea Salt several times a day each time with 2 grams of ascorbic acid. The reason I am wondering about the salt is because I bought a new package a few months ago, and it seems to have something crunchy in it that is not supposed to be there. I'm wondering if there is something in the salt that is causing the pins/needles.
The sensations started on Tuesday (after 2 doses of iodine) and intensified up until Friday, when I stopped all supplements except ascorbic acid and magnesium. I salted some food on Monday night, and I got the pins/needles sensation again. Not sure if it was a coincidence.
Other possibilities that have crossed my mind:
- B12 excess (have been receiving twice weekly injections for about 3 months)
-
Iodine moving more metal than my body can handle
I've tried searching the forums as well as googling, but haven't really come up with anything. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Does anybody know of a way I could get the salt tested for possible contaminant? If there is something in it, I'd like to know what it is so I can take appropriate measures to deal with it.
