I tablespoon in whatever water you have....no matter how big. Drink immediately, no worries. It will look sort of murky, but it will not have any smell or taste. Let it settle out as you go.

My husband adds a bit more every 5 gallons or so...just to hedge our bets.

Hv said a tablespoon will last for 6 months sitting on the bottom. It will saturate the water. I usually leave at least a couple inches of water before I add more and never let it get to the bottom

The purer the water.....the better.

No need to over think this process...it's all good.

For a larger amount, Concerned Aunt has
it right, you can bring the price down
to just over $1 a pound by buying a 50#
bag. I have a 50# bag which I bought
after I fell in love with DE. Originally,
I bought 5# from my naturopath but found
I could do better on the price online.

I started out using a very small amount
of DE and saw plenty of great benefits at
that amount. I have increased the amount
but did not notice any more significant
benefits at a higher dose so think it is
like someone said in an earlier post, that
the absorption is such that small amounts
are effective. I plan on using some in my
water and still daily use a tablespoon in
my juice. I stir it and drink. I also use
it on my pet's food. I just took one of my
dogs in for a heartworm test and the vet
remarked on how great she looked. This dog
is not a huge eater and it is hard to keep
weight on her. Using the DE expelled worms
that probably have been chronic even though
I wormed her once a year with stuff from
the vet. I decided this year to use the DE
and both the dogs seem to like it better
and their fur and bodies look great. They
lick their bowls which seems to me an
indication that they are feeling the difference
too, and know it is from the DE. It sure is
cheaper than the pharmaceuticals.

Good luck with your own experimentation
with DE. If you happen to use more than
your body wants, it will just pass through
your system. It is best not to inhale it
of course. Otherwise, my best advice from
this far down the road relative to my own
taking it, is that more is not better. I
have decided no use to waste it. I have
been noticing that prices are going up
across the board for things I have bought
for much less in the past, so I want to
stretch that 50# bag as far as possible
since in the future it may cost 2-3 times
more.
