Need some advice - I want to use coconut oil to help lose weight (about 10 lbs.) I used to put coconut oil in my breakfast protein shake and fry my eggs with it, but I was told instead to drink coconut oil 2-3 tbsp. in warm water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach(apparently this is best for weight loss). I've tried this for last 3 days, only to feel completely gross right afterwoods - I keep burping the oil up and feel nauseated.
Any other suggestions?? I can still get weight loss by putting it my protein shake??
I am blood type O as well...

This is a reply to # 1,568,054I just take a spoonful or two in my mouth and chase with morning coffee or tea.
Maybe 3 is too much for you...I prefer to take with something hot, myself.
It gives me an icky feeling to just swallow solid or cold on an empty stomach.
I take it because it makes my skin very smooth. I have cut down to about 1 tbs but still feel the benefit.
How are you doing with the weight loss? I am responding to a 3 month old post.

Ditto here... I was very disappointed when I read that (and a bit alarmed as well)... I have been using coconut oil on a regular basis for the past year or more with great results.... I wonder if it's outdated information? Coconut oil had a bad reputation in the past being lumped in with the tropical oils... it's only been the past 8-10 years (maybe less) that CO has been found to be so beneficial.. I see that my copy of the Eat Right 4 Your type was copyrighted in 1996 -- perhaps the information in the book is outdated.. I stopped using it for a few days when I revisited the book recently, then went back to using the CO again... I'll just keep a bit closer watch over the next while and see if there are any detrimental effects that maybe I missed in the past.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,568,054I use coconut oil every morning in a breakfast drink. It has become my *instant breakfast.* It actually tastes like hot chocolate, and is very filling
3/4 cup boiling water
1 tsp, or to taste, cocoa
stevia to taste
coconut oil (if you've not used it before, start slowly with the CO... maybe 1 TBSP at first, then work up to 3 TBSP.
Blend together, then add 1 or 2 eggs and blend again. The boiling water will be hot enough to resolve any issues with regard to raw eggs.
