I was able to read the pdf this weekend. It's very encouraging, and I love the sense that there is a solid base of citizens doing this extensive research to become their own experts. They become so intensively and specifically knowledgeable that a newbie dipping their toe in can get overwhelmed. But the knowledge base that can be tapped is pure power. None of it was shocking, given my own research tendencies. And surely my most favorite part was the idea that some medicos would enjoy not having the entire burden of information-gathering and decision-making. I have felt that in a small way myself. I got stuck in helping my husband -- I knew, for instance, that more thiamine was critical, but what version? The possibilities boggled my mind. Eventually I made a decision, and that form had a very negative impact on him. After quickly removing it, we discussed the problems and he read all the information I had gathered. He instinctly knew the right form for him -- one I would have never tried -- and he was right. It's a blessing to have a partnership for very important medical decisions.
