Good luck with the fast Steve, I did 2, 40 day oj fasts in one year and it was great, all kinds of junk came out of me. I did a 3rd 40 day fast in same year and found it was too much for me. Mh is right 2, 40 day oj fasts a year are plenty.
The 3rd fast in same year seemed to put out my digestive fire, for lack of better words to explain it, so now if I OJ fast I make sure to take garlic with bread and olive oil on the side or a little milk with some carrot or beet juice to slow the cleansing down and give the digestive system some fire, like spice, tea or cayenne, to give it, the digestive system some fire and something to do. Everyone needs tweaking to suit thier own systems.
I seem to have enough stomach acid to digest small amts of milk, I sometimes take rennet to dissolve the casin in milk if I drink it. I do not like bread or milk, I just use them in small amts as vehicles to get large amts of garlic, spice and oil into my system.
My friend, a punjab indian, ate raw garlic every day growing up, they can eat a whole bulb of garlic with great joy and no discomfort, they told me they LOVE the smell of garlic as it reminded them of thier father, who ate a lot of raw garlic every day. Goes to show people love foods they were raised on. I use the milk and bread/toast to absorb heat and get garlic, cayenne, hot spice etc into my system. I hope to build a tolerance to garlic, hot red peppers, hot spices and oil, so they become easy for me to eat. Part of balancing the fire, air, water, earth elements of ayurvedic medicine.
So far, mono fruit diet with plenty of garlic and olive oil is the best diet I have found. Add spices and herbs and you have all the medicine for good health.
Good luck. Keep us posted on how your fast goes.
