I found a posting about this very thing. Dr. Flechas said the elevation could last 6-12 months.

My experience is limited to simple goiter combined with hypothyroid symptoms and blood work. I didn't take desiccated thyroid to reduce my goiter. I took it to relieve the hypothyroid symptoms, and the goiter responded at the same time. The supplements you mention would be a minimum, as well as antioxidants to help relieve inflammation, zinc, vitamin D, B complex, and even iron if ferritin is low. Learn whether exposure to goitrogens is part of the problem. Avoid gluten vigorously. My habit is to follow the symptoms to try to understand what is happening so that I can supply what might be missing. I would advise the woman to be her own best detective.
I had it about 22 months before the right therapy was started, and then it took 5 months to deflate.
Well, you actually remembered one of the iodine docs talking about it. I've gotten so rusty on all that info that I pored over in the beginning, I'm lost without a search engine. Oooh, I know that piece of info is somewhere around here.... :)
