I developed an alcohol intolerance about 6 months prior to being diagnosed with CFS/Fibromyalgia. Before Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome I was able to drink normally. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to treat or manage alcohol intolerance (and please don't suggest "don't drink" - thats how I am currently managing it and I would like other suggestions). I'm not interested in becoming Lindsay Lohan, I would just like to have a glass of champagne at my wedding next year without feeling like death on my honeymoon.
Background: I've been doing NB for a year to detox my body from excess copper - which has definitely helped my CFS. I have already done the candida/paleo diet, currently on the slow oxidizer diet.Advertisement

This is a reply to # 2,046,878I have the same issue but I have been doing better since NB. have you tried different forms? I know I can handle beer better than wine. Wine makes my muscles cramp up and hurt, but one beer is okay. Or even a small mixed drink. Sometimes I think it's the chemicals. I started making my own wine last year so I'm anxious to see if I can handle that.
I think the intolerance will go away once the AF is cured. I've had intolerance problems in the past and it always gets better when I address adrenal issues.- Re: Alcohol Intolerance - Is this a ... joegrane

This is a reply to # 2,046,981Add molybdenum to the list of things to try. Not saying it will be a magic pill, but it may be part of a combo that will help.
possibly related to sulfites and acetaldehyde, especially if candida is a problem.
Any symptoms of hypoglycemia? Remember it can be related to low adrenal problems.
Hg and heavy metals can contribute to all of the above.

I already take molybdenum.
I don't think candida is a big issue anymore - digestion is much better.
Unless I still have copper in my system, I don't heavy metals as much of an issue and I don't see see mercury a cause (based the fact I don't have Amalgams and based on the results of my 5 hair analyses).

If you don't think mercury is a problem then take a few doses of alpha lipoic acid as a test.
I would not trust the NB people with mercury. Copper and mercury always travel together and mercury is the cause.
Just focus on getting yourself healthy. If you have to abstain from alcohol it's a very small price to pay for having your health.

This is a reply to # 2,048,360Be careful, Lipoic Acid is powerful stuff when a person has a mercury problem! I've read many disturbing reports, especially from those who still had Amalgam present.
We are struggling to keep a 26 yr old mother of two alive. She is suicidal, fatigued, mentally ill and quite brain fogged. This got worse over many weeks as she accidentally used ALA in what she thought was just vitamin E.
A close friend who had been getting nice gains on Cutler's protocol had a bad setback from accidental use of ALA in a supplement for a week or so. After almost a year she still has not fully recovered from it.
Some can feel the impact of a dose of just 10 mg of ALA--increased brain fog, mild headache, weird tingly sensation in the head as mercury is likely is moved into the brain. If you don't believe it, half of the mice in this study excreted more Hg upon receiving LA but also ended up with more Hg in the brain. Andy Cutler, PhD Chemistry, explains.

This is a reply to # 2,046,878I had the same "problem" a year ago before I even knew about AF.
Later I found out that I'm extremely hypoglycemic and I think that's what was causing it.
I don't know much about NB and heavy metals connection but if I were you I would look closely at your blood Sugar levels and how it reacts to alcohol being present in your system.
Try to maybe eat very low glycemic foods or avoid drinking on empty stomach.
Other high protein and high fat foods are very helpful before you drink( I'm russian, trust me:)))
As for me I had to quit drinking for good eventually.

This is a reply to # 2,046,878Hi, I suffer from very severe MCS and it started off with alcohol. At first I would have right upper quaderant pain for a few hours each time I drank & it got worse, it would last longer each time until it stuck with me and turned into full blown MCS. Since MCS & Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome are related, so they say, I would be very careful. If your body let's you know it has a problem with anything you better listen. Hopefully you make a full recovery from Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome & MCS is never a problem for you, good luck. Mario
