Oh yes sometimes it takes a single thing to tip the bucket and cause a mast cell revolt. For me it was chicken seasoned with tumeric.
I had already had AF type syptoms for over a year, made exponentially worse on a three month "candida diet" which included LOADS of fermented foods (hello histamine!!) I didn't know what Histamine Intolerance
was at this time. After I dropped the candida diet I got a little better but was still eating many high histamine and high salicylate foods unknowingly. It seemed that as the months passed I was getting more and more ill even though I was on the cleanest and "healthiest" diet I'd ever been on in my life.
I had a laundry list of symptoms, so many that its tough to list them all. The main ones were pressure in my head and dizziness, breathing difficulties, itching (sometimes hives) burning skin, body rashes, nausea, anxiety and panic attacks, uncontrollable crying, tongue swelling, internal tremors, sudden blood pressure drops, and even anaphylactic shock.
After the tumeric anaphylaxis episode it was like my body was at war with anything and everything. I lived on water and rice baby cereal for weeks, only 2 tablespoons at a time. I lost 25 lbs in a month. Not trying to scare you! If someone had told me about all this before I got to that point I would not have suffered so much.
Nowadays I can tell when my bucket is getting too full. I catch headaches, or I get extra itchy, and short of breath. This is when I know to be extra careful with what I eat. It took me a long time to be able to tolerate supplements but when I was able to start the quercetin it helped so much. I started off in tiny doses and worked my way up.
