Hi, this is a long background info, so please bear with me.

I have on and off constipation, diarrhea and indigestion problem for years . I can have diarrhea today and yet constipated (very hard stool) the very next day. Due to these prolong problems, I had develop hemorrhoids a few years back.

I had a bad hemorrhoid attack last month due to constipation again and was prescribed Daflon and stool softener by GP. That solved my problem... for two weeks. I ate plenty of fruits and vegetable and drank almost 3 liters of plain water everyday and yet, I still can't go.

As I went to pharmacy to look for more fibers (other than the Fybogel I am taking), the pharmacist recommended probiotics. So I bought a small bottle of it last Sunday and took it as instructed - a capsule 30 minutes before meal, once a day. On that night, I finally had bowel movement.

For the next two days, I was so happy. I can BM everyday without having to push and feel for the first time the feeling of 'totally emptying my bowel'. Also I noticed the trush on my lips (which is another of my problem for 4 years) are decreasing significantly. A little search on web tells me that thrush could possibly caused by candida infection and probiotics is one of the supposedly cure for it. I WAS SO HAPPY.

However, my happiness ended on 3rd day when I was attacked with the worst anal itch I ever had. I have not have any anal itch after my childhood ends. It was itchy on the outside as well as the inside and it's worse after I BM and at night. I can't sleep well or concentrate at work at all and all I can think was fighting the urge to scratch!! Worst, my hemorrhoids attacks again.

I immediately halt probiotics but the itch continues until I went to the hospital. The doctor puts me on high dose of Daflon (for the hemorrhoid), hydrocortizone (for the itch) and phylium husk for 10 days until I see her again after this. The cream helps very little and it stings. I tried sitz bath with salt water and that stop the itch for and hour tops.

5 days had passed since the itch started and I had went through a lot of postings here but the only clues I found were

1. Probiotic can kill both candida and, or parasites.
2. Candida yeast die-off probably will cause body itch.
3. parasite die-off can cause anal itch.

I am not sure whether these are the answers I was seeking so I would appreciate any thoughts to why the terrible itch? And should I continue the probiotic? Why is the hemorrhoid attack when I was not constipated and am eating right?

Yesterday the itch subsided a little but I could not BM even with the phylium husk fiber, so I blended it with some Watermelon juice and also drank some sugarless barley drink. I BM within 20 minutes but the hemorrhoid flares up and the itch came stronger again. What am I doing wrong? I feel terrible now.
