I really appreciate everyone's feedback, especially as the pattern has changed again and I have had 12 hours sleep since monday morning.
I get that with AF we are dealing mostly with unknowns, but after spending $500 on a saliva test I can not even esatblish from the raw units of GABA and glutamate whether an imbalance is indicated?
I am taking NAC to lower glut in the brain, and using theanine, curcumin, mg, zn to block receptor sites -- and the sleep may be worsening. Not surprised when I can't even say with assurance I have an imbalance.
Tenacious you thought you might try Kavinace. For the first few months the sleep was magic--dreams that I still remember months later. During days of adrenal weakness you looked forward to the escape of that kind of sleep. Apart from a brief two week washout in Oct. when the insomnia hit, I have been on K for 7 months. Maybe that's some kind of record? No withdrawl during the washout. The bucketloads of taurine I'm pissing out daily from K's 950 mg prop blend of taurine plus phenibut puts me in the 100th percentile on the saliva test. I just read taurine is a GABA antagonist?? and blocks melatonin receptor sites?!
I have chased my tale since Oct wondering if it's cortisol, or adrenaline, or histamines, or glut or one of the other 70 neuros we aren't testing, or some combo. Oh, and our friend copper detox.
I guess I'm at the point where my choice is simple. Go further into the weeds trying to find chemicals to rebalance my body's balancing mechanism, which might have been thrown off by 7 months of K and precursors I took from July to October...
Or keep it simple and cut back everything to C, Zn, Mg, and tough it out for a few weeks.
I've read descriptions of my fellow insomnia sufferers with their pounding hearts, panic attacks, racing minds etc. I just lie there quietly and relaxed hour after hour, and only by 3am starting to feel trapped in a fatigued body, and trapped in a brain that has lost its ability to sleep.
