Helminthic therapy? Sure.
The theory goes is that with allergies the body really see it as a
parasite invasion and goes for attack. It all comes down that the body never really stopped being adapted to them and hence some ppl who don't have them today must fight something via this specific response. Makes you wonder to say the least.
parasites or autoimmune diseases? The Q here is what more horrible? Many who suffer from
Rheumatoid Arthritis better live with a
parasite since a
parasite do keep you functional (suppressed immune response/as full response might be dangerous for both a host and a parasite plus activation of TH2 anti-inflammatory response and repair) and that's where IL-6 becomes a good guy trying to save your life (if you get a parasite) not a bad one (causing the issue with
Rheumatoid Arthritis ), for example. So is it better to fight with your own system or a real enemy so to speak? The best way is to find what
parasites use instead of infecting yourself. I think some recent news talked about pig whip-worm use since it don't cause the same infection in humans. But many Q's rise here.
Reg exposure it's a hard one since it will dep on a specific parasite but big super families (not all) don't just go around like pinworms, for example.
Reg getting infected with other parasite yes and no. It gets complicated since any already established parasite will try to stop other taking it's place (due to a competition for resources) or it's own kind for that matter but with not all cases (it's not black and white here). On other hand suppressed immune response can open the gate to a single-cell parasites, etc.
Nothing is white and black here all very complicated to say the least.
