I am again in agreement with you. It is absolutly best to do the MC clean. From her original post I just saw it as a whole rationalized misive on excuses to fail with smoking being a strong central point as an excuse not to get started on the MC.
She is obviously focused on the MC at this point so I just want to keep encouraging her to just dive right in and just start moving in a positive and beneficial direction as that is a great motivator to get one to start to focus on a path. As Im sure you probably well know from your own experience with an addiction of 30 years that pretty much taking the first step irregardles of anything else is *the* most important part.
This is strictly my own view so take it or leave it.
First off you are waaaay over thinking this whole thing and everything you have written here sound like all the reasons or excuses you have to fail. There is action and there is thinking about action. Action will ALWAYS win. It is the doing of that gets results so the best advice I can give you to clear your mind of all these preconceived notions and expectations cause they will certainly not help you in any way shape or form. Look only ahead. The past no longer exists and only the future and what is ahead is relevant.
The mindset should be not that you are running from your past but that you are running to somewhere new and wonderful where you will be the best that you can be.
Read the book follow the instructions to the letter and dive right in. All this talk and thinking is not getting anything accomplished. Keep reading and educating yourself. You will go through highs and lows on any cleanse.
The lows are part of cleansing as your system will be releasing toxins so try not to whine and just see it a a good sign and start drinking lots of water and lemonade to help the system keep the toxins diluted. Just suck it up and press on.
You are just gonna hafta be patient cause it will take time. Obesity is not a compartmentalized issue in and of itself it is a *HEALTH* issue and just the manifestation of many possible causes. No form of fasting is a good way to loose weight without resigning yourself that what you do after is a crucial and integral part of any diet or weight loss program.
The MC is a great way to jump-start a weight loss program and you will loose weight but it is NOT a weight loss diet. No form of fasting is without the understanding of the long term maintenance and lifestyle change that is required. This applies to any and *ALL* diets. There are no magic diets or pills. There are no shortcuts. It will take educating yourself focus and most of all time.
Read the link below from the FAQs for further insight on how to use the MC successfully as part of a weight loss program.
Do a goggle on using - "master cleanse" pdf - to find the online book. The MINIMUM recomended is for 10 days. The body doesn't even get into deeper cleansing till around day 8 and is not fully adjusted to fasting till around day 15 and thats when the real healing and cleansing at the cellular level begins to happen. Read the Detox Stages in the FAQs to learn about the cleansing time line. Breaking the fast properly is very important and you'll find that info in the online book.
Going through lows on any detox regimen is perfectly normal and part of detoxing and the system will start releasing accumulated toxins. The wisdom is never to break on a low and to fast through till it passes. The first line of defense is to start drinking lots of lemonade and water to help dilute the toxins and keep them moving out. The SWF is the most efficient way to help the body get rid of toxins.
Don't expect any miracles on a short fast. While you are doing something really good for yourself a 10 day *minimum* will be mostly for a little tune up and have mostly a tonic effect. It might help you somewhat with cravings but I would say the one would really need to go past 15 days before any real and curative effects will take place.
If your posting to this thread then you already know about the MC and weight loss and if you maintain your present eating habits which while they sound reasonable there's a good chance that the weight you loose on the MC will come back albeit not as fast as somebody with a crappy diet but without changing something in your regular routine the likelyhood is that the weight will come back. Fasting is meant to cleanse the system all the methods were never designed as weightloss programs. If all you wanted to loose was 2 or 3 lbs I bet you could easily do that in a week or 2 by changing or adding something to your regular exercise routine.
Many folks hit a plateau in weightloss because they are obsessed with eliminating all or most fats from their diet. What they fail to understand is that there are good fats and bad fats and one needs to ingest the good fats or Essential Fatty Acids in order for the body to metabolize and get rid of the bad fats. This is one of the most overlooked aspects of a healthy diet. Read up on healthy fats at www.barleans.com or www.udoschoice.com
I betya that if you started incorporating EFAs regularly into your diet and changing your exercise routine those few little pounds will disapear in no time. A good way to supplement EFAs is with Flax seed oil or a more balanced mix like Udos Choice. I do at least 2 tblsp daily mixed into my daily fresh squeezed veggie juice or since I like the taste of flax seed oil I can just do it straight but basically you can add it to anything. Good qulaity virgin olive oil is also a good source of EFAs. There is also fish oil and from what I read Hemp oil is a really good oil with very well balanced ratios of omega 3 and omega 6. Flax will be the least expensive and Hemp the most expensive.
BTW from everything I've read protein powders on a regular basis can put a burden on the liver so you might consider looking into liver flushes and looking into ways of supplementing proteins in a more natural way.
Flax oil caps are a little more than useless. First oil will go rancid mighty quick And is light sensitive and needs to be both fresh kept in dark bottles and also refrigerated or they will go rancid. So the oil contained in the caps is almost certain that it is rancid.
I go on week long camping trips and without refrigeration and high heat any oil will go rancid mighty quick to I investigated the possibility of taking caps. Well it takes around 15 or more depending on their size to equal just one tbsp on the liquid. Maintenance dose is considered to be 1 tbsp per 50 lbs of body weight. I'm 5'11" and hover in the 180/190 range so lets say I should be doing 4 tbsp a day so that would mean that I would need to take 60 caps a day. Weeeeiiiiil I don't think soooo ;+D
Any good flax oil will be both kept refrigerated and in a dark bottle and also have an expiration date so try and get the freshest you can and then buy small bottles so you'll always have a fresh supply instead of having something that has been exposed to oxygen and has been in your fridge a while.
The best way to get your vitamins is from a live food source as the system really needs the live enzymes to process and use the vitamins otherwise they go right through you and you'll just pee out most of them. Other vites need fats sooooo the best way to get your vites in a readily assimillable from with the live enzymes and all kindsa other mega nutrition is through freshly made veggie juice. If one leads a busy life it can get hard to do fresh juicing consistently so when things get hectic and I don't have the time or I'm on the road I do supplement with vites but instead of pills I use a food based powder source which in addition to the vites also contain mega green super-foods like spirulina chlorella wheat grass juice etc.
The other biggie for good health and nutrition is hydration and the basic guideline for that is to drink half your body weight in oz. For example let say when I'm at 180 I should be drinking 90 oz which is approx 3 quarts and I tell ya that is the hardest thing for me and the only time I keep to it is when I take 3 1 Qt Nalgene bottles with sports spouts and fill them up first thing in the morning. Even then I hardly ever get past 2 qts. Cause that much water will keep me peeing like a race horse.......;+D
It Salt Water Flush so it is obvious that you haven't read the book. Do yourself a favor and do that Goggle search and find the online book.
The SWF is 2 teaspoons of uniodized sea salt mixed in 32oz (quart) or warm water. This has been referred to as an "oral enema". you drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and withing 1.5 to 2 hours will go through you like corn through a duck ;+O and cleanse your whole digestive track top to bottom. It it the favorite thing to whine about in this forum.
I just take a deep breath and guzzle the whole thing down in 10 sec and hardly taste it.
See I was right! It is the favorite thing to whine around here. ;+D
It's just a little salty water and it last for 10 seconds ferchristsakes.......................;+D
