I did not mean to imply nor did I claim to have been healed by a simple fast.

My doctor was ready to schedule me for surgery on both knees, my elbows hurt so bad I couldn't shoot a piece of wadded up paper and my shoulders were so bad I couldn't raise my hands. I do not trifle with doctors. I was a medic in the Army working in operating rooms and had to quit the field over my disgust with doctors. So I have no blood work to share.


I fasted for 29 days to give myself a chance to heal. After the fast I changed my diet and took so many supplements I don't think you'd even believe me. I took colostrum, or still take it rather now for about two years. I took lots of CMO, I've been on glucosamine and chondroiten and Type II collagen and MSM for over two years. During the last two years all the symptoms gradually disappeared. First, my elbows and shoulders just stopped bothering me. I didn't monitor how long it took, I was just too relieved that it happened.


I am still healing but my knees feel about as good as they've ever been. I will continue my supplements until I feel perfect. I also drink about 20 ounces of Kombucha tea every day and attribute an awful lot of the healing to that elixer. It is said that 95 percent of all disease and susceptibility to disease originates in the colon. The other five percent originates in someone else's colon. Clean up the colon and you clean up your health problems. Virtually all health problems are related to diet and it's effect on the colon. You don't have to believe it, but that's a fact.

It helped in my case, so be patient. I saw the difference during the second 10-day cleanse, which I finished with a liver cleanse. My faced improved greatly. After that second cleanse, the redness is gone and I only get ocasional pimples that disappear quickly. As for the open pores, they are still there... I hope to see some improvement soon. I will keep doing the cleanses (I am on my third cleanse now) until my face is completely cleared. So, keep the hope alive!

Wanted to go a little longer, but my body was telling me it was over. As opposed to my last lengthy fast when I was about 1/2 my present 64 yrs of age. I lost energy instead of getting more. Not sure if it was the age or the fact that between the metals and candidiases that I was trying to get rid of this time it took everything out of me.

My last 21 day fast I started gaining energy on the 5th day. At the time, I was working a minimum 8 hrs of heavy work every day. After the 5th day I could hardly wait to get home to go run 21/2 to 3 miles at a good 7 minute mile. I just couldn't seem to run down. Not only that, I could take my family out to dinner and be content to sit there and drink water while they ate.

This time was totally different. This last week, all I thought about was food, and the dishes that I was going to make when I broke the fast. To the point where it was keeping me from going to sleep.

I did manage to lose 48 lbs, and my tongue was 98% free of the white coating. All my physical ailments seemed to have gone with the exception of the ringing in the ears, and that has subsided 80%. I understand that sinus infections can permenently damage the nerves in the ear so maybe that's why.

I don't know if I have eliminated the candidiases, but I plan on continuing with the Clarkia tincture, the liver flush, as well as the Flora balance and Probiotics. Also I plan on fasting 1 day every week or so and maybe a 3 or 4 day fast every 2 months.

The hardest part is ahead of me. That is changing my way of eating and the amount that I eat. There are some incentives that keep you going. Mainly, being able to dig out those clothes of yesteryear and seeing that they fit. I will have to buy many new clothes. My Christmas present to myself I guess.

All and all a grat experience. Whatever all of you are doing I hope all goes well and that you make your goals.

PS:
Contrary to what some have posted here about having to take salt or your blood pressure and heart rate will go up, I drank only Distilled water and did not have any salt for the 28 days. My heart rate slowed down a little if anything and I had no high blood pressure.

I knew this from my last fast, but wanted to keep track of it this fast. Don't believe everything you read by people who make statements of fact without showing any source.

Hi John...I felt the same way. I didn't want to come off my short fast (8 days), but had to (birthday party). Immediately upon eating some fresh juices, then vegetable broth I felt very heavy and earthy...and kinda sad that that fasting feeling was gone. What I found so interesting was that during the fast (with B&P drinks) my energy felt so *right*. I felt completely grounded, yet light at the same time. Much better than I have felt when I am eating regularly...sometimes I feel that I am expending more energy than I have and feel very light, but *not* grounded. So, these feelings were very interesting to me, when I was on the fast/cleanse. It felt like my synapses were all clean and pure and making clear connections. Simply wonderful! Don't dismay though, John! After the intial few day heaviness coming off the cleanse, I have levelled out and still feel clear energy zipping and zapping. Maybe you will experience this too.

As an aside, I just had a short visit with my cousin who I haven't seen since before I did my fast/cleanse in November. At that time she did a bit of body work on me and said that my 2nd chakra and that whole abdomen area seemed restricted. I then had my most important dream of 2002 that told me to 'vacuum' myself out and get my digestion working more efficiently so that I could put more energy into what I was supposed to be putting my energy into! I found curezone, did the cleanse...and today saw my cousin. We were sitting down talking...then we got up to go into the kitchen and all of a sudden she exclaimed, "you look great!!" and she was looking at my abdomen. (she can see energy) She could see that my 2nd chakra and abdomen area was totally open and clear now! (and I sure feel it too....very amazing!) So there you go! I'm starting the Ultimate Cleanse within the next few days because another dream told me there were a few more spots to get. (I'm serious...very clear and obvious my dreams are)

So, John...I do know how you feel. And I know what you're talking about when you say that you had so much energy running through you during your MC...I was tip-tapping my toe while talking to people (not something I normally do) and I did my errands around town in half the time it normally takes me!

this is my story of a little enlightment due to a master cleanse i did last yr:

i have been a single mom for 12 yrs, so i had to cook when i was fasting! surprisingly it didn't bother me, it didn't bother me in the sense that it wasn't unbearable as i thought it would be and it was actually fun, enlightening and very educational.

you see, i have always avoided the kitchen. being on the road nearly all my life, and spending time with dad fixing his car before mom could get me into the kitchen, i never really cooked or enjoyed cooking. it was a terrible hassle and i usually went out cause for one or 2 it seemed cheaper then the fuss of shopping and preperation and then cleaning!

it was like this untill my first master cleanse. then while on the 3rd day not only was i cooking incredible curries and delicious meals for my daughter, not only did these recepies seem to pour out of thin air (or my heart) but it also hit home, hit me deep, that i had an issue with the home/kitchen/mother goddess aspect of myself that i associated with food preparation and ingesion!

i was afraid to get caught up in some routine and become like my mother. dependant, serving, trying to please her husband, tired, bound. i associated eating with heaviness and negativity and preperation with some sort of terrible burden/slaving chore.

don't get me wrong, during most of my life i did eat well - i was not starving myself or pigging out on fast food, i have known about nutrition and alt health for most my life and have been raised on herbs. this was more emotional then physical. this realization i still can remember.

since then i have started to see cooking as a creative outlet and been putting a lot of heart into preparing meals for myself and my 12 yr old. rather then seeing them as just a way to curb my hunger ~!

Hi! I just went through the Master-Cleanse fast. I've been thinking about doing a cleanse for a while, and some friends recommended this as one they do regularly. After doing some research on the different types of cleanses, I thought the Master-Cleanse sounded like the most basic (and probably effective) and would be at least a good place to start. A few things I found out:

My office-mate and another co-worker were also doing cleanses. I believe that made it a lot easier. They were doing herbal detox-type cleanses, so were on some solid food, but the camaraderie and the fact that there was less around to snack on during the workday sure helped.

After two days of struggling with the cayenne/lemon/maple drink, I decided to go for the cayenne capsules. That made things a lot easier.

I tried the salt-water flush with table salt at first - big mistake. Sea Salt is definitely the way to go, and as soon as I was doing it right, I had no problem downing the whole quart. I didn't experience the BMs I was led to believe I would, though - possibly because I'm vegetarian (near-vegan) and didn't have a lot of that waste to eliminate. Still, I thought it worked great.

Also, I didn't lose nearly the amount of weight that others have on this cleanse --- though I don't have a lot of weight to lose to start with. I'm 5'11", started the cleanse 10 days ago weighing 155 lbs, finished weighing 150 lbs.

Overall, I had a great energy level throughout. Before I started this, I couldn't have imagined leaving the house without breakfast; I've always felt I had a high metabolism, and typically eat 5-6 small meals a day. I was wrong. I didn't exercise much during the cleanse, but did a fair amount of walking. I had no problems concentrating, generally felt clear-headed and perceptive. Sex drive was up and down. I definitely felt myself tire out earlier in the evenings than normal. I rarely felt hungry, and never felt like I *had* to eat. The times of the day I was accustomed to eating - lunch, dinner - were more challenging, but that only served to make me think how much of what we consider "hunger" is really just conditioned appetite. "Lunch time - gotta eat!" Being around people who were eating was also difficult. Like when I quit smoking, removing myself from the environments in which I was conditioned to eat helped get rid of the craving.

Yesterday was day 10. Today I'm easing back into food with the recommended juices. So far so good. I will definitely do this again, or perhaps try other cleanses.

I discovered this website only on about on Day 6 or 7. Reading the experiences and accumulated wisdom of others who've been through cleanses has been wonderful! It's helped give me some idea what to expect, and in some cases think about the different reactions I've had than others. Thanks to all the posters.

My husband and I did the cleanse for 16 days, we should have done it longer. Anyway, he jumped on the band wagon because he had high colesterol. Anyhoo, his dropped 87 points and the doctor is dumbfounded, he was trying to get jason to take drugs.

Everyone said that you "just know" when it is time to stop and now I just know.

I began drinking water melon juice today. Actually, had a carrot juice last night too.

I spoke with a naturopath about the nausea I was feeling drinking the lemonade and he said it was toxins and to add a little ginger juice and that would deal to the nausea.

I did not get around to trying this in the end, but someone else may like to!

It feels a little strange stopping, but also much like when I began this fast. I found this site, something clicked and I started the next day. Last night something just clicked I just knew I was coming off the next day.

I have been dead curious to know when this moment would be and here it is.

In the beginning I did not imagine that I would go for even 10 days. I went very much day by day. My maximum time without food in the past before I started feeling bad was 3 - 4 hours - and that was when I was attempting to fast!(which I did twice in my 37year history!) I must say the lemonade really dealt to that side of things. I just didn't feel hungry at all.

I know that one of my concerns going into this was weight loss. Most people would have described me as slim/average.

I did not lose a miligram for 2 weeks - I stayed bang on 60kg - like ALL the time - regardless of when I weighed myself. I tested the scales to see if they were actually working.

My weightloss at this point is 5kg - I am now at 55kg. 2 kg I lost overnight when I did a flush the weekend before last and it never came back.

My tongue was completely covered with thick white "hairy" stuff when I began. I now have 2cm of pink around the circumferance of my tongue and the white in the middle is "thin" and you can see pink through it.

I felt great for the first 20-22 days - barring day three on which I woke up feeling incredibly dizzy, weak and nauseous. That lastest about 2 hours from memory.

It was around day 22 that I found myself decreasing the amount of shakes I was having and feeling sick drinking them and after drinking them.

I was tested for allergies a week or so ago and tested as having no allergies. I am interested to see how I test after the fast and to see how I respond to challenges. The tester was unable to test for intolerances, so the status of my chemical intolerances to scillicilates and amines etc and whether I will be able to return to eating fruit, it still up in the air. Because this is a loading issue, it can not be tested for.

Well ,that is me for now. I am looking forward to feeding my body nourishing, healthy food to keep it on its healing path.

Hey everybody!!!

Well, I have to say, I never thought this day would arrive. I am on day 20 today, which for me is a major accomplishment. I have suffered alot as a very toxic, post-partum mummy, but I was so determined that I was going to get back on track. Alot of people find the goal of 40 days to be very excessive, and some find even The Master Cleanse to be plain starvation. I read in someone else's post that it is interesting to see how people react to you with their insecurities. I have always known that some people like it better when you don't succeed, as it makes it easier for them to make excuses for themselves. I think alot of my problem pre-cleanse was that I too was basing most of my self worth and ability on those around me. It seems like everyone is struggling these days, and that was a good enough reason for me to keep eating and hiding. I was so worried about what everyone would say about a 40 day cleanse, that I first only told them(hubby included) that I was going for 21 days. I figured that if I made it to 21, then I would tell them. It would be easier for them to see it was okay, when they saw for themselves how much I had improved. I couldn't maintain that deception with my hubby, and when I told him, to my great suprise, he was 100% supportive. He has even joined me for ten days, today being his 6th. When he explained his reason for supporting me to our inner circle, he used these words:
"Drastic situations call for drastic measures"
When you feel like you can't go on anymore feeling that sluggish, unmotivated, & unhappy, you need to do something big to dig out of that hole. And as we all know it is a big hole, full of toxins. Before the cleanse, I was prescribed an anti-depressant to deal with the post-partum. After I woke up in a fog 18 hours later, and muddled through a day making big mistakes because of my fogginess, I told my doctor I couldn't use it again. She said , okay, we'll just try another. As I couldn't risk another day like that for my children's and my own safety, I began to think of other treatments.
"What if everything that I'm feeling is not a result of not adapting to my new life as a full-time mom? What if I am doing this job right, but am too polluted to know?? What could I gain from doing something so incredibly hard and extreme?"

So, I gave it a try. And here I am my fellow cleansing pals, to whom I owe a debt of gratitude for your advice and support. I am so happy it is almost sickening. No more mood swings, no more drama, no more over thinking to the point of paranoia. More weight loss, although I don't get on the scales. For me, that would make it about the numbers, but that is only a part of the big picture. I am so energetic that my hubby can only laugh with me. It's a big change for him to come home to a happy wife, a clean house and no drama to try and fix. Someone asked me the other day if I'm taking some kind of drug that is more powerful because I'm not eating. That was the only way they could explain my giddiness, because the truth was too threatening.

So, what now? I'm going to keep shooting for 40 days. I am a goal orientated person, so the 40th day falls on my son's first birthday. I always wanted to be back on top of things for his first birthday, and then my 30th birthday this September. Thanks to the cleanse, that may very well happen.

I just wanted to say thank you for helping me accomplish my goal of three days then adding 7 more and doing 10. I NEVER saw myself as a person who would willingly not eat for 10 days.

I want to confirm what everyone says about feeling more energetic, more peaceful, and much clearer minded. I never felt this way not with any drugs (pharmecutical or otherwise).

I am continuing on with a parasite cleanse soon and then liver so I plan to still be here with you all as I struggle and succeed with taking control of my own health.

To those just starting or new...
YOU CAN DO IT. YOU BELONG HERE. AND THESE PEOPLE BELIEVE IN YOU.

Well gang I want to thank you for all your support thru out my 40 days. I have lost 42 pounds in my 40 days. And feel a whole of hell better than I have felt in years. I am continuing the fast till wed. I am in a middle of a move and don't want to lug my juicer with me everyday. So I should be settled in by wed. Then I will go on a green juice fast for 14 days then I may do the Master-Cleanse again till I m at the weight I want to be and plan to eat respectably to my body needs not my addiction to "mind" food. I have gotten so use to it actually I could go another 40 days. Perhaps life. Well gotta go..all have a wonderous cleansing day and I will check back in....ps still suffering from gas...gawd Ihate dr's......C

I have read through quite some number of both the current posts here and the archived ones, and I would like to thank all of you who have posted your questions, and those who have given their support and advice.
Halfway through Day 2 I had "lunch" with a good friend. That was tough. Unlike many of the generally health conscious people here, the foot-long hotdog with mustard, chili and onions appealed to my palate a whole lot more than my lemonade;-) I made it through it, but I thought that I might share some of my thoughts. This is intended to give people who might otherwise think that they could never “do” this diet some inspiration.
I am a 40 year-old man who generally eats a great deal of meat, drinks too much, smokes, rarely exercises and has a long family history of heart disease. (Yea, I know, when you put it all in one sentence it sounds pretty bad.) I found out about this diet from a friend, and I was really just finding her some information about it on the Internet, but it sounded crazy, so I kept searching for medical reports on it, figuring it was some kooky fad. Of course it is kind of kooky, and it does have some of the trappings of a fad, but it is more like the automobile than the hool-a-hoop in that it has been around for quite sometime. I decided to try it. I have NEVER been on a diet, and I figured if I was going to try one it might as well be a hum-dinger.
I did not start with a great deal of conviction, and was fairly convinced that the very horrible sounding concoction would repulse me and I would go straight on to breakfast as usual. I followed the mixing directions fairly loosely on my first glass, and goofed badly on the cayenne pepper. I had to mix that glass into three glasses before I could tolerate the pepper (I eat a great deal of cayenne, jalapenos and other peppers in general, I just way over did it, lol). With three glasses in my system I went on to work. My employees listened and then put a “pool” together like one might a football pool with grids for the hour that I would break from my fast. (There was a great deal of contention over the 17:00 to 21:00 slots of the first day!)
The first night was hard as my wife and son ate leftover Mexican food, both cajoling me about the absurdity of my diet. The temptation for a beer was very strong. As more than a few people have pointed out, the desire to eat is very strong, but it is the action of eating rather than hunger that is the motivation. The “horrible concoction” is really quite good, though I would strongly recommend using liquid or raw cayenne rather than the powdered, as the powdered has a tendency to settle in the bottom of the glass and can provide quite a “finish” to your meal.
Now for some observations that may not be well received by all, but none-the-less I think might comfort those wavering on their embarkation of this diet. First, in the real world it is quite difficult to carry lemons around and find time to squeeze them while at work. I squeezed about ten lemons (yes regular old grocery store lemons) and poured the juice into an empty water bottle. The syrup that I could find locally was grade A, but it is 100% pure maple syrup. I have used both distilled water and filtered well water. I have used powdered cayenne and whole fresh peppers (certainly my choice, though some might prefer to run them through a juicer). I have found that I like a bit more lemon than the recipe calls for and a bit less maple syrup. I do not strain out the lemon pulp, but rather find it psychologically very comforting. I certainly add ice (made from filtered well water or distilled water depending on where I am.) In many of the posts I have read there seems to be some alchemist who is convinced that minor variations are some sin that will taint the entire process, but these same would be chemists then say it is alright to drink six to twelve glasses a day, and always add to drink plenty of water. Hmm. I will not go so far as to advocate variations in the basic recipe, but for myself, adjusting the recipe slightly to make it more palatable is a risk that is quite acceptable, for goodness sake, I am subsisting quite happily on lemons and maple syrup. As far as laxative teas and salt-water, I have yet to have a problem with elimination, so I really have no opinion there yet.
For those who may be uncertain about venturing down this path, carry with you the certain knowledge that something has brought you to this point. Do not expect your experience to be exactly like others people’s experience as you arrived from different places and though your path may parallel theirs for a brief period, your path will certainly take you in a different direction. Believe in your own instincts and trust your own intuitions. Let others lend assistance as you need it, but rely on yourself. If you have doubts then take the first step and see what your instincts tell you. There is certainly no shame in drinking lemonade for a day and then deciding that you are unhappy and moving on!

For the last 2-3 years, the first thing I do every morning is make fists with my hands to assess the pain. About 2 months ago, one of my knuckles swelled so much that I could no longer wear the beautiful ring my huz gave me last Christmas. I couldn't open plastic twist-cap water bottles (or anyting else). My knees hurt too much to exercise, and the rest of my joints just plain ached. I was exhausted even after a full night's sleep and craved Sugar constantly.

Today, for the first time in years, my hands don't hurt. Really don't hurt at all. I put on my ring. Plus I have lost 6 of the 20 pounds I am aiming for.

If you want to know whether you should try this cleanse, I can only say that it has changed my life in 5 days.

Hi everyone!

Well, today is day 20 and I decided to end the Master-Cleanse today. (Actually, last night I nibbled a bit too!) Today I had a lemonade and some diluted orange juice, and I just had some vegetable soup. It was a very mild soup with celery, sweet peppers, carrots...I drank a lot of the broth and chewed up the veggies really well. I've also had a couple of very yummy dates :-)

When I first started the Master-Cleanse I thought I would do only 10 days, but then I decided to add the B&P shakes after day 10. It felt good so I just kept going. Now as many of you know from my other posts, I had a bad day last week in which I ate some not-good-for-me food under not-good-for-me circumstances, and I did nibble *tiny* bits of food on many occasions...but anyhoo...;-)

I loved this fast! I've lost probably about 15lbs (don't know because I haven't been weighing myself), feel *much* healthier, and I think I may have even passed a short rope the other day. My friends say I look radiant, and I even feel that way. They *best* outcome of the Master-Cleanse for me is that I have been able to go to 8 yoga classes over the past 2 weeks! My body feels so different. I can't believe how changed I feel...

I decided to stop not because I was dying for a meal, but just because it felt right. Not much has changed for me in the past few days, and so I just felt it was the right time to stop. Also, I've come down with a cold. Since it came so late in the fast I don't think it is toxins coming out as a side effect. There is a lot of stuff going around here and so I think it is a good old fashioned cold. Anyway, I am going away on Thursday and I want to establish my new routine before then.

I plan to continue the B&P for a while in hopes of seeing more ropes, and I think that I will probably make a morning lemonade a new ritual since I love it so much.

Though I didn't do the MC exactly as I had planned, I did do it longer and feel that I achieved a lot. Now that I know what to expect I am really looking forward to doing this again. I am considering doing another at the start of May if not sooner!

Hello all...I would just like to share with you the latest good news.

A friend of mine (he's 64) has had allergies for many years. Hay fever. Can't cut the grass ever...when he does he sneezes and wheezes. Has taken anti-histamines forever. Lately, though, it's been really bad. For one week he was sneezing and wheezing, his eyes were red, his whole face looked irritated by something just beneath the skin. Not good. He had to sleep sitting up some nights because he would wake in the middle of the night unable to breath - his lungs were closing up.

Well, I visited on the weekend and got him (and my other friend, too) to read ALL the stuff on www.thedoctorwithin.com site with me. We printed it out and read sooo much of it.

Journey to the Center of the Colon, Allergies, Enzymes, The Last Resort, The New West Diet...on and on all afternoon.

Because his lungs were in bad shape I suggested they start off their new regime with an organic pear fast (pears heal the lungs and bronchitis). So he did that, while taking Bentonite and psyllium shakes and probiotics (he will add the enzymes when they get them) and he's drinking LOTS of water (2 litres at least).

I really can't believe how quickly it has changed me. And no pills and no drips or sneezing. It's wonderful. So thank you, thank you, thank you. All those people on the chat line were right. (*that's you guys - he's been thinking I was slightly crazy! haha) My stomach was feeling so tight, now that pulling sensation has gone away, and I can hold it in easier. Now to just get rid of it all together. That will come. But the most amazing thing is how energized I feel. I'm sure *--* thinks I am crazy and is getting tired of hearing me say it, but I feel great.

Today is day 3, and I cut the grass this afternoon without sneezing, without wheezing, and with no runny eyes. And I didn't fall off the tractor once. (*ha!) It was unbelievable. Normally I must fortify myself with a couple of pills at least, and then still sneeze and drip, and then feel hung over from the pills for a couple of days. How wonderful is this. So there ya go! If any of you have allergies you'll have to try this. He'll move into the New West Diet tomorrow, I guess - mainly raw foods, lots of water, probiotics, enzymes and b&p's. He's going to clean out so that he never has allergies again! Could take some time, but this is a very positive start!
