All carbs are sugar, be they complex or simple. Yur body breaks them down to glucose... all carbs.It doesn't have to be table Sugar
to just be Sugar
Glucose,fructose,sucaraose,galactose,lactose,dextrose..it is all sugar. Different chemical make up but still sugar.
go to your Rice cakes. Look at the label and find total carbs grams.
Let's just say there are 28 grams of carbs per rice cake.
Okay,now divide that number by 4
we get 7
Now there are 4 grams per teaspoon.( A teaspoon holds 4 grams..a heaping about 5)
so knowing tht all carbs are broken down into sugar(like your 28 gram rice cake) we can equate that with each rice cake you eat you are consuming
7 TEASPOONS OF Sugar
IN THAT ONE RICE CAKE. IF YOU HAVE 2 THAT'S 14 TSPS.
Do you understand? I'm not real good at putting a point across,but can you see how we figured that out and how your sugars can get away from you.
Oj has about 36 grams per 8oz,so with that one serivng alone we are taking in 9 tsps of sugar..
On reading the labels,the important number is total carbohydrates,not the sugars
