For quite some time now if peer reviewers do not approve or balk at the approval of a big money maker they will lose their jobs and are usually black balled out of their fields...

So peer review means absolutely nothing to me anymore.

However, there may be some merit in adding a page or section which describes, or even introduces, the 'peers' themselves.

I've recently been stung to hear someone or two talk about "unaccredited chatty females."

Gosh, that sounds like the days of witch-hunts, doesn't it?

I, for one, would be pleased to know neighbors who approved of something over the back fence. It's the 'scientists', I'm afraid, who would give me pause.

For me, it would be your clear, fair, reasonable, and interesting text that would fetch my attention...and maybe, my belief.

Your own story, well-written, and your picture, would carry a lot of weight with me.

Suggestion; go to your local authors' association and hire a real writer, published or not. Writers are all poor. Many live by entering dozens of writing contests. There is even a prejudice against 'white haired' writers, who may in the end be your most knowledgeable and clever authors.

Offer your local writers, including those at your community college, a contest, with the best prizes you can manage.

Take the best entries and work with those folks toward a piece you really love, even if you don't get it.

What you WILL get, for sure, is a team of marketable creators. You could become an 'agency'. With firm and fair contracts, you could launch a team effort, for hire. Your writers would love you. Approval is a very worthwhile thing.

You never know where such a project would lead...

it lends some credibility to the study because it is easier to find one fool in a crowd, but a dozen of them? thats a convention. it gives it a degree of credibility, depending on the sources as you, ff, have pointed out.

I agree ff... proclamations of qualifications are a big red flag to me. A convention, as trapper put it, just increases the number of flags!

but if everyone involved is paid off by the company that stands to benefit from the research, then all is suspect, whether its peer reviewed or not.
