I understand what all of you are trying to do here, and I think that trying to explain your system of truths is a good thing, but may I humbly offer this:
I read through these posts and all I see is the language of 'christianeze'. What is 'atonement'. What is 'personal savior'. What is 'penalty for sins'. What is 'salvation by faith alone'. What is a 'sin', and if it's so bad, why is it so appealing?
We need to get to the place where we can use language that ALL can understand. Especially here! This place, curezone.com, has MANY views. In order for others here to understand what you are saying, I think a revision is needed.
"I put my faith in Jesus Christ to heal me and give me the spirit in order not to sin."
How many religious sayings, cliches can you count in that sentence? Do you really think those not versed in christianity can understand this? Let me tell you, all those cliches and phrases are buzz words for all other beliefs to tune you out and remain closed to what you are REALLY trying to say.
Wait, don't misunderstand me, I am not asking you to water down the Truth. I am asking you to put it in words that others can understand. Try to see it from other's perspective. Try to understand how hurt most of these people are by 'christians' in some form or another.
When Jesus was about ready to leave the earth, he asked his friends and followers to do one thing "go into all the nations and make disciples." Not stay cloistered together and speak in languages with words and phrases no one else can understand. The opposite! Get out of where you are used to and tell everyone in a way they can understand, so it will move them not only to being 'believers' (just understanding what Christ taught)but 'disciples', people who are so swept away by what Christ taught that they can't help but want to live the way he suggests.
I am just saying, let's talk about what we believe without using those sayings. Let's look at our own 'story' and ask God to help us see it from others' perspective. See if you can do that. It's really tough, but worth it.

This is a reply to # 404,597One of the message boards I frequent has an automotive theme. Should I, being "automotively challenged", demand that everyone else stop using automotive jargon? Or should I learn to "speak the language"?
Granted, we are serving in an evangelistic role here, but this is primarily a support forum. We're here for each other, not necessarily the world. The Bible speaks of the believers' meetings as being mainly for the believers, not others. So when we go out into the world we speak the world's language, but among ourselves we speak in spiritual terms that the world may not understand.
If anyone does come here and doesn't understand the terms, all they have to do is ask.Advertisement

But that is not what the post was about. I was addressing the fact that when people who do not believe ask questions, shouldn't we be 'ready in and out of season to give the reason for our hope'? Be ready to speak in a manner not offensive, but inviting? This is what I was addressing. And excuse me but since when is the notion we are to exclude others from meetings? Where does it say that in the word? Are you completely unwilling to change the way you speak for the better of others?
And as to the automotive reference that would be relevant if we were talking about such a light subject as automotive issues. But we are not. We are speaking of the most detrimental subject on this earth...the state of human souls, we are talking about the human plight, the very reason the people who believe are left here. The job we are supposed to perform.
So while this forum is a great thing as far as support and encouragement for other believers, when someone 'un-initiated' walks into the room, isn't it our very purpose to help them understand what it is we are doing here? And if having to ask for the definition of jargon is the only thing that stands between a nonbeliever coming into truth, shouldn't we remove that stumbling block? What if they are too timid, what if they are worried, what if they have a hurt heart, what then?
We don't live in a vaccuum. And as far as 'out in the world'-- when the rest of the world has access to this forum, and they do, wouldn't it be proper then not to act as if they weren't here?

Second, no one said anything about excluding unbelievers. What I'm saying is that unbelievers cannot expect to come to a Christian support forum and never see a word they don't know. I look at just the post titles of some other forums and have no clue what they're about, important as they may be, but I don't go chastising the people there for not always keeping the vocabulary on a third-grade level.
Third, coming in here and passing judgment on us all because we don't write what you like is not exactly a good witness on your part, now is it? People who have the most to say about other's faults usually have a blind spot of their own. We can't please everyone and shouldn't be expected to.
I did say we'd explain anything asked of us by any unbeliever, and that is reasonable. And I have no intention of getting dragged into another useless debate with someone marching in here with an aire of authority, so this is my last reply to you.Advertisement

This is a reply to # 404,601I meant no harm in any of my posts and am sorry you took them as such. I was not passing judgement, merely making an observation. I never hinted to my not having any issues, I thought it was a given that we all have issues. Oh well, you made it very clear that you and this forum want no one ever to challenge your manner or attitude. Your harsh, negative reply has only added fuel on the fire of nonbelievers against christianity. My intent was never to be divisive. I thought we were on the same page. I am sorry you were offended, and you are right, I do have unsettled issues 'blindspots' as you called them. I will until I take my leave from earth. The idea of using a new language is an issue I have recently felt the prompting of the Lord for me to change, and thought I'd share my own walk. Nor, did I realize my converstaion with you was a 'useless debate'.
And as far as my 'witness' goes, I didn't think I had to 'witness' to believers. I thought we were supposed to sharpen as iron sharpens iron. I thought we could speak in a pleasant manner, I didn't realize everything here between believers had to be roses and butterflies. I guess the type of truth that challenges and gives a new veiwpont is not welcome here. After thinking about your 'challenge' I am going to have to agree with R2R. This is a Biblical Christianity Support Forum and we are making the assumption that when we communicate with others on this forum that they are in fact Christians and that we are all speaking the same language. We should not have to tailor our communication to someone's else's felt needs here as we are not here to make the message more relevant - it is already relevant enough. And, we don't need to degrade the use of our Christian vocabulary to the lowest common denominator for any non-Christians that might visit this forum. I am confident that if the Holy Spirit leads someone here, then they will receive whatever message that He has for them. And if they do not understand...like R2R said, all they have to do is ask.

Hi! I was recently called to the carpet on this in my own life with Christ, and thought, since I saw it being demonstrated here, that I could make a suggestion. That's all!
I just think that we as believers can be much more purposeful in our speaking, and not just fall back on what we are fed via most christian media. We can really question the way we speak, and refresh it if we need to. I live in the 'Bible-Belt' and hear this language all the time around me. We take for granted all the things we already know as Christians, and we give them trite sayings. Like 'applying the blood of Jesus on you as you go'. That is a CRAZY POWERFUL statement! But to a non believer it doesn't mean half of what they think. Instead is it so much worse to say 'I pray that God will show you new aspects of His love today' or 'I hope that you remember today that you are protected by Christ.' or whatever we mean to say when we say such vague statements.
I hope I am being clear, and not offensive. This is a truth I was recently given, and just hoped to share it.

It is interesting that you bring this up. I can't stand all these man-made cliches. What especially bugs me are the sign boards that you see out side churches. For example one that says :
"Seven days without prayer makes one week"
Yes they are coy and sometimes funny, but they don't at all speak to non-believers they only entertain the Christians.
Cliches are one thing though and speaking God's Word is another. I'd do away with the cliches any day, but I couldn't possibly water down the Bible.
I would like you to explain your findings more, and perhaps use examples so that you are not misunderstood, and besides you've piqued my curiosity.

However, I hope we continue to support one another as we have for many months. This group is awesome and very well balanced and a great place for a Christian to find lots of support.

I do not see where Sara was attacked any where on this forum. What am I missing here? She presented a challenge and was given an honest, truthful and straightforward response. The past few days...I have seen sincere seekers who have posted on this forum asking for prayer, presenting questions, and even seeking forgiveness of sins. The outpouring of love and truth from the 'regulars' and even 'non-regulars' was beautiful and is an example of the kind of support, exhortation and instruction that I believe exemplifies the Christian faith. Not one of those posters, that I recall, complained about the vocabulary that was used to minister to them. They all seemed to understand quite well what was being said and were very appreciative and responsive.
