Here is part of the article from June 11th
Richmond Times Dispatch.
"The Federal Trade Commission is asking a federal court in Chicago to shut down an operation that sells Coral Calcium Supreme, a product advertised with one of the most widely run infomercials on cable television this year. A hearing is scheduled for Friday.
The FTC lawsuit accuses Shop America and Deonna Enterprises Inc. and officers Kevin Trudeau
and Robert Barefoot of making unproved health claims. The agency wants to freeze their assets and return money to consumers."
You can read additional information about the FTC charges at www.altmedicine.com/Article.asp?ID=3543
Also, ConsumerLab.com reported today that 20% of the calcium supplements it recently evaluated failed testing. One of those that failed is the much hyped "Coral Calcium Supreme" which, coincidentally, was also the subject of government action today for false advertising.
ConsumerLab.com found amounts of lead in ""excess"" of the State of California's "no significant risk level" in "Coral Calcium Supreme by Robert Barefoot" a product widely promoted in infomercials.
A news release is available at www.consumerlab.com/news/news_061003.asp The review can be found at www.consumerlab.com/results/calcium.asp
