I haven't compared them side by side, but I used shea butter before going to coconut oil. I get better results with coconut oil. To me shea butter is heavier and my skin doesn't drink it in as well. If I were back in the mid-west, I would probably consider it for use during the winter as a insulating layer against the weather on my skin. Last winter here in Florida I used shea, but it didn't add the moisture I was looking for. This winter I'll be able to compare the different results of the two. I really believe the key with the skin is what you put _IN_ the body as well as what you put _ON_ the body. I don't think you can ingest the shea butter? I don't know, but you'd have a very hard time getting my VCO away from me now.
