Greetings Cherry Rain (I love your name),
I know what you mean about not feeling good with solid foods. I felt that way significantly when I came off this recent 34 day fast. As a matter of fact, I hit an all time low about 4 days or so after the fast from eating solid foods... so what I did was cut down on the foods and upped my juicing more and then took it slow. I'm eating solid foods (raw and alive), but much less than my pre-fast diet and the quality of foods is far superior than my pre-fast diet. It took my body all this time (about 2 weeks) to adapt to solid food, so while I am not on this great juice fast high, my body feels good nonetheless.
Fifty one days! Wow, what a glorious feat! You must feel so proud of yourself. Hell, I am proud of you!
Dry skin: That is one drawback some juice fasters may have when on a sustained juice fast because they're not getting the usual oils and fats as in a regular, solid food type diet. Fortunately for me, I have oily skin and live in a hot humid climate (SW Florida, on the Gulf) so I don't experience the dry skin. However, there are things you can do that will help. You can add a dash of olive oil (extra virgin, of course) to your juices (stir well, drink quickly, it's not bad) and/or you can make veggie broth to sip (as you would hot herbal teas) and add olive oil to the broth, gives the illusion you've got chicken stock in the broth and even adds a nice flavor. You can also try Flax seed oil, which contains the EFAs which will improve the texture of your skin and the whites of your eyes.
The veggies you've listed that you consume are excellent choices, however, as I have mentioned before, I can't stress the importance of greens in your juices. They will work wonders on your skin, hair, eyes, attitude, sleep, energy levels, clarity of mind and so on... Of course, the fast itself does these things too, but the greens just seem to reinforce, magnifies all the fantastic benefits of the fast in general.
Yes, by all means, you certainly can juice brocolli (especially the thick stems), it's a definite regular in my juices. Brocolli is a very powerful green veggy and is considered extremely anti-cancer, especially the lungs. But as with all cruciferous veggies (brocolli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, etc) the sulphur content works its magic on the skin, hair and eyes. Swiss Chard is another green that is reputed to work on the eyes. Garlic is a fantastic additive for whole body rejuvenation.
Here are three links that will take you to a three part list of various individual veggies and their healing properties. Here you can find those veggies that will give you and your body specific healing properties and therefore you can tailor your fast to your specific needs:
I hope this helps you find what you need. You may also want to consider modifying your juice fast by including one or two whole raw solid foods, take it slow, add them one at a time, measure the effects on your body, then go from there.
All the best,
