Wow, I just found this website tonight and am amazed! I went on just looking for some side effects from Mirena and got more than I thought I would ... which is great.
I had my second child in September 2006 and had Mirena inserted December 9, 2006. For the next 2 weeks I had the worst bleeding of my life accompanied wih severe pain and then a "normal" period for 2 more weeks. I was told this might happen so I wasn't too worried, just uncomfortable. The next month I got my period and it lasted for 2 weeks. February and March were the same but now I had severe cramping almost during and right after my period. My legs have been aching at night ... so bad that it wakes me up. I havent been the happiest person since I got it inserted but there have been other circumstances as well. I have a headache almost everyday and have taken more Motrin than I probably should. No acne, no weight gain.
This month has been horrible. I went to my OB after having my period for a week and told him what was going on. He said if it doesn't get better then come back. Well, I'm going tomorrow because not only did I bleed for 2 weeks again but am STILL bleeding! I have this shooting pain in the lower right portion of my pelvis and have cramps constantly. It feels like I can "feel" it all the time, especially during sex. I think I'm going to get it removed tomorrow.
My question to everyone is ... what other birth control do you all recommend? I was on the pill years ago know I won't remember to take it everyday. I have done the patch (before my 2nd child) and that messed me up, too. I don't want to do the ring and won't get a tubal. I used to work in surgery and think it's a whole lot to go through for a 5 minute surgery, especially since there's more of a risk for ovarian cysts. I think I'm just **** out of luck and should tell hubby to get snipped. :)
I'm glad that those of you who have had it removed are feeling better. I'm hoping to join that club tomorrow. For those of you who still have it, good luck. And for that woman who is pregnant with it still in, (I'm sorry, I forgot your username), I wish you the best of luck and I will pray that all goes well for you.
Thanks to all of you for listening and I'll keep reading your posts.
