I have had the Mirena IUS for about eight months or so. I had it inserted at the advice of my OBGYN after the birth of my second child, and intially had only very slight cramping that went away. Lately, I feel like I am going to die, I have irregular periods, painful lower backaches, blurred vision, I see spots, memory loss, confusion, bloated, weight gain, shortness of breath, chest pain, fever and the chills, dizziness, nausea, I have occasional bubbles/movements in the area above my stomach that you can actually feel and see(like a baby kicking!)I almost thought that I was pregnant again! Recently I have been to my general practicioner who told me I suffered from anxiety and prescribed daily meds. I also work in the medical profession and strongly disagreed with my GP and his diagnosis. Since, I continue to have the same symptoms and I have been to cardiology, opthamology, dermatology, and rhuematology departments complaining of these symptoms. I have had a chest xray, CBC, and a stress test, all of which are normal ranges. I spoke with my OBGYN about the symptoms and my concerns with the IUS, but she had not heard of these type of symptoms and side effects from this device. The doctors make me feel as if I am going crazy. I am convinced the only thing it could be is the IUS, so I am seeing my OBGYN this week to have the IUS removed!! I have never felt this bad in my life. I would love to hear from anyone else who may suffer with my same battle.

MoreThis is a reply to # 847,225Let me tell you. I had everyone of those symptoms you stated!! And the doctors said they same thing to me. That is Bull Sh*t. Something needs to be said or done so they know these symptoms are occurring.
Getting it removed is the BEST thing you can do. As soon as it is out you'll feel much better. My headaches have not yet subsided but everything else is much better. My mood is great with my kids and husband which is and was my biggest beef.
Anyway, DON'T let them think your crazy. If you read any of these messages posted a lot of girls have the same symptoms and the doctors said the same thing to them.
Just do what you have to do!!

I have had Mirena for about eight weeks, and my skin is worse than it ever was when I was a teenager and I also have felt that bubbly stomache thing that feels like a baby kicking. That is so weird! Also, I have been bleeding NON STOP! I have always had light periods with little to no side affects, but I have been crampy and have bled through onto so many skirts its not even funny. My mom told me to call my OBGYN and make sure that these were all normal side effects, but I thought I would see what I could find online first and stumbled across here. This is a reply to # 847,225same thing here, someone said the baby kicking is just air bubbles stuck under your ribs or something, i think the merina has been poking around causing scarring and swelling changing the shape of things, my uterus is bigger than it suppose to be, that changed my eating habits, the less i eat the more i feel the kicking and can see my belly move, i have had it worst than anyone here, i fell like the dr was trying to kill me while trying to remove the thing, there was no way i was letting him put me to sleep

This is a reply to # 847,225I too have those same symptoms. I have looked into having mine removed and my insurance wont pay for the removal. I just can not keep feeling like this. I dont understand why the doctors are not contributing these side effects with this Mirena. It seems to me that if so many woman are feeling this way they would put 2 plus 2 together ya know.

This is a reply to # 856,214i told the board of medicine in my state they dont seem to think anything is wrong, u know people got to die b4 they pull things off the shelf, just like the patch it almost killed me, i never wanted any birth control,i just took the patch because the dr just talked so freaking much about birth control even after i said i use condoms, i lost so much blood i had to drop out of school because i could not stay up long enough to study, we got to get the word out because we know, drs can only say things are a fact after studing lots of people, no one else needs to be a test dummyAdvertisement

This is a reply to # 856,225the patch was what i used before the mirena and it worked ok. i did have alot of clots when i would bleed but atleast i did not feel like this. i chose the mirena so i would not have to worry for 5 years and i have done nothing but since getting it. my doc made it sound like the best thing since sliced bread ya know. i tell everyone i know not to get the mirena because of what we have all experienced so yes getting the word out is important. because we have been test dummies for this stupid thing. without even choosing to be.

This is a reply to # 856,232i had no choice, my first dr said it was the only way to stop the bleeding caused my the patch. i feel like i trusted the wrong doctors, well they have not heard the last of me, i will indirectly contact them all the addresses are online, he needs to know that what he did caused alot of lasting problems, maybe i wake up every 2 hrs because i got to pee every 2 hrs, and ibs is caused by me not being able to eat for 2 weeks, and my lymph node still hurts because he refused my calls for 4 days then was told i had an infection, incase u dont know they suppose to give u antibotics after going inside your body. its time for us to sleep though the night, it times to get the word out and rest easy

I feel the exact way that you do mommyx2!! I have had the mirena in for only 13 days and I just want to die!! I have had all the side effects that were told to me plus about a dozen more. I have almost been on bed rest for the past four days thinking that I had the flu..but I dont!!! It's that my arms are tingling and I have these almost rollercoaster spells. I have an eight month old and want to be a good mom to him. But I have no motivation at all and Ive been attacked by the hormonal monster. I feel completely horrible for everybody that has come in my path these past like 2 weeks. I can't even tell you how different of a person I feel since I've been on this IUD from hell!! I researched the mirena and even drove an hour to a doctor that's susposed to be the best in the area to get it done. It was tooooo good to be true!! To all those woman out there your NOT alone!
