I've been using 50mg Lugols for 4 months. I think i have vitiligo, mostly on legs, and this has developed recently. I have hypothyroidism, but have been taking Armour for 4 months, and did not have this condition before.
Could the Iodine have caused a mineral imbalance? I take 3G of C, Magnesium and lots of other stuff. Or, could it be the Iodine bringing this out, as it cleanses the system. Do i carry on with the iodine? I know a lot of people with hypo get this but why now and not before i got treatment. I've been reading a lot of stuff, but there seems to be so many theories, low stomach acid, b vits, low copper etc. Can Iodine cause low copper?

This is a reply to # 886,110I don't think the Iodine itself can cause Vitiligo. I have had some small Vitiligo spots on my legs for years, I think they showed up when they started taking Iodine out of the food supply and adding Bromine! Maybe there's a Bromine connection? I've had them for so long I just don't worry about them anymore.
Are you doing the Salt Water loading to get the bad Halogens out? I do at least a teaspoon of Salt a day (not all at once) in Water with Vitamin C powder added. This will help wash out the Bromide and other bad Halogens.Advertisement

Hi Megabite,
I take 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of redmonds every day for adrenals. I take vit c daily too. 2-3G. Interesting theory though. Yours haven't gone then, with taking iodine.
I read somewhere about aloe vera being a cure for someone, it contains enzymes, vits etc and i read that one study done showed a lack of this certain enzyme in people with this, forgot which one now, begins with C. Also it boost the immune system and helps the digestive system. Worth a try. I did read though that vitiligo is definately not caused by a lack of vitamins/minerals etc. Not convinced about that.
There has been little research on this problem.
