Albeit brief. But it just show that the world is coming around to the belief that probiotics are important to health.
I use Florastor, I have recommended it many times on this board and I have my own theories as to why it works so well. I was intitially hesitiate to use it since it is a yeast itself and transient in the gut lasting only 10 days or so after you stop using the product. My first thought was what's the point? However I figured I had nothing to lose. After a few weeks of taking it many things changed for me. My digestion greatly improved. Fowl, sick smelling bm's replaced with healthy , perfect ones ( sorry to be so graphic), and my only symptom left, this horrble internal shakiness and even a tiny amount external shaling along with some anxiety was relieved completely. Although it all came back when I ran out of the product and had to wait for more to arrive. Upon starting up again all my symptoms again cleared.
My theory is that because Florastor is a yeast is might be alot more effective at fighting candida which is also a yeast. Trying to fight candida with a bacteria IMO will probably not work. Florastor also causes a large amount of die off. If you read the brochure or info on their website you will see that Florastor fights off candida and can grow faster than candida as it attaches itself to the intestinal wall effectively squeezing out candida of space it needs to grow. It also produces many b vitamins which I suspect may be the reaon I feel better along with helping one digest food. It also specifically states that it is completely unaffected by all natural antifungals like garlic and caprylic acid which means we can effectively kill off candida while implanting ourselves with a healthy yeast. And the best part is the yeast will also disappear when we are healed of candida and ready to start implanting bacteria .
While our guts healthy bacteria may keep candida in check if it is large enough quantities, I do not believe it can fight off candida once it has exploded in population.
I swear by the stuff
