Thanks everyone for the wonderful advice and comments! (especially you, Molly!) I think I will definitely try to find some organic, unrefined sesame oil. I figure that if I'm going to take the time and effort to do this every single day, then I had better maximize my chances of getting good results!
As for the toothpaste, I too have been trying to avoid fluoride. I had heard the glycerin was bad, but never heard the explanation of why so thanks for that too. I am now using "spry" which I know has xylitol, etc... I will have to see what else it has in it.... there were a couple things I wasn't sure about, but at least it didn't have fluoride or
SLS or anything. I also got another kind for my 3 yr old... I think it might be better... it's Mint Toothpaste by Miessence. Just looked it up and it has: Organic aloe vera, purified water, bicarb soda, non-gmo xanthan gum,
Sea Salt , organic spearmint essential oil, organic peppermint essential oil, organic grapefruit seed extract, organic cinnamon essential oil, organic clove essential oil, stevia extract. sounds good, right?
By the way, I tried coconut oil once (Tropical Traditions) and gagged immediately! I've heard you can get coconut oil that doesn't taste so much like coconut... might look into that eventually.
Today I bought grapeseed oil from Trader Joe's just because I was determined to move on from the sunflower oil, and that was about the only option. (sunflower oil was a good starter oil but I'm really wanting to get results that I can see.)
But maybe a health food store will have the organic unrefined sesame oil... maybe I will have to go to Wild Oats. Hopefully it won't break the bank!
thanks everyone!!
P.S. I did try to put in some clove oil into my sunflower oil a couple times and really liked it. I'm sure you could mix oils a bit and find a great combination... but for now I think I will stick to one oil at a time and see how it goes!
