Re: LOVE: a feel-good social construction.
Your post raised some thoughts in me about the
difference between spiritual and emotional love.
I cannot help but think that we are spiritual beings
having human experiences which also encompass the
range of *emotional* feelings like love and sadness.
I have worked with primates, which I do not consider
spiritual, and yet, I have seen them grieve and I have
watched them fall in love, and remember, after years
absence, those they have loved. Certainly no one would
argue the love of a dog. I have a bird who I bottle-fed
and weaned and so I really do feel he has an emotional
attachment I would consider love.
So, my thoughts and question would be, what are the
differences and nuances between spiritual and
emotional love? I suppose from stories you hear
about *ghost* dogs and such, that animals are
spiritual, but what part does self-awareness play
in these comparisons. I do think animals live in
the NOW and so gauge their emotions minute by minute
too. I just wonder if they get the spiritual connection
or is that purely a human experience and association??

Zoe
