Re: Why is the United States so Christian?

"Popular music... contains almost no mention of christianity'

Guess you never played any records backwards. :P

I think the U.S. appears so Christian because of Christian
propaganda , via over-elaborate churches(many could have fed
a nation with the dollar cost of building),TV evangelists and Christian
broadcasting=the constant recruiting of Christians. I also feel like the
Middle East affairs, war in Iraq, etc. also brings Christianity to the forefront
and that it is part of the US gov plan, in the long/short run, to create havoc between Christians and non Christians,i.e., making the battles religious ones whether declared or not.

Otherwise, not sure where or with whom you hang out that gives you the idea
that all us Americans actually buy all the hype. There are many of us. And many
good Christians.

I'm not chastising Christianity, I just feel that the true meaning has
been lost for the most part by commercializing and and by the capitalists that
do so engage.

I think there is probably one "God", and people should have the right to
practice their religion freely and openly-that people should just accept
the facts. I just don't buy the belief that one will go to hell if they don't
believe a certain way...at least my God wouldn't do that, and come to think about
it I guess, in summary, that "Fear", quoted previously, has been instilled so
aggresively and deeply that it a great assumation to think that fear is a major
player. Mostly fear of change ,I think.
