Re: Why is the United States so Christian?
These days, America can only CLAIM to be a Christian nation. In the past, the government basically followed Christian "principles", but the government was always materialistic because the economy was always a capitalist economy. The Christian person shouldn't model their lifestyle by what a government does or even by what the other person does. A Christian is supposed to have a PERSONAL relationship/devotion to Jesus (and live accordingly), so, yes, the true meaning has been lost, but that's because people are not choosing a PERSONAL devotion anymore, they're copying the other person instead of using their own personal conscience to follow Jesus. Everybody is being POLITICALLY correct (thinking of and treating each other as "political units"/groups instead of a unique human being/individual). It is hardly ever intentionally sinister to be politically correct, but it is careless and disrespectful to think of other people simply as "political units" (it is dehumanizing to ignore a person's humanity).
All throughout history, Christianity has always been taught as though the believer should only have "faith" and "believe" (politically correct gestures) instead of have faith/trust in God because of having love in their heart (for God and the other person) and respecting the other person as a sovereign individual (respecting their right to live happily).
Many people (including Christians) find it more convenient to simply be "politically correct" instead of actually treat the other person fairly with respect. In order to flatter themselves, they CALL themselves Christian (they have a NEED to cover up the truth...their CONSCIENCE).
Today, there are still many Christians who are sincere (and many unbelievers who are decent people), but many pastors/ministers have been irresponsible and politically correct by failing to teach LOVE and respect (the priority of many pastors is to fill the collection basket).
There is only ONE God ("God is ONE", Galatians 3:20), He is the ORIGIN [of all creation] (the creator) and He sent His Son to purify our souls (Hebrews 9:14, John 14:6) and we should not be politically correct about that.
Our devotions/relationships should not be the same as each other's (1 Corinthians 15:28 "...that God may be everything to everyone"), they should be PERSONAL (idiosyncracies, habits, etc.). We should believe according to the SPIRIT of the word (and "walk by the spirit", not walk by faith, Galatians 5:16 and 25), many teachings have been taught wrong for centuries), but salvation is only revealed to us through the Christian gospel.
