Oil Pulling Caused Major Acid Reflux Attack

I've been oil pulling for 3 days with sunflower oil. Yesterday I decided to do it again when I got home from work at 6pm (in addition to the morning). I hadn't had anything to eat for 5 hours prior. By 10pm I had the worst case of acid reflux I can remember in a long time. Everyone says to stick with it if you have uncomfortable symptoms, but this was way past uncomfortable. I felt some positive effects from pulling right away (reduced fatigue, clear thinking, improved mood), but I'm kind of afraid to even try again after the terrible heartburn. I don't get how swishing sunflower oil for 15-20 minutes without swollowing could aggravate my reflux problem so much. Do you think this could be a healing reaction, or just that I can't tolerate the oil? Has anyone else with Acid Reflux had problems from oil pulling?
