Re: Just got back from the doctors frusturated
If you take cortef at 20mg, you still need to supplement with something that will strengthen the adrenals, since the cortef is replacing your gland production and making it lazy. Yes, it can help give it a rest, but don't rely on only cortef. That is my experience. You still need to read Dr. Wilson's book.
I was on cortef twice, but I had to go back and reduce toxins, then begin again. The second time I used better glandular products from Wilson. I also have found some excellent concetrated food sources that after several months replaced the glandular extracts. You have to strengthen the weak adrenals with what it needs to manufacture the hormones needed, not just replace what the adrenals are not producing. Sugars, caffeine, chocolate and alcohol will tend to weaken them, because they stimulate without feeding them. A quality source of vit. C with bioflavanoids is essential. Don't drink orange juice for breakfast...it has too much potassium.
Don't play hit and miss...Read James Wilson...www.adrenalfatigue.org . This is your new college prerequisite to feeling better. If you get a 4.0 on the test, you'll pass, and next year you won't still be down in this chronic fatigue syndrome boneyard.
