Is it a catch 22 situation re anemia and heavy cycle bleeding?

I was planning to start Lugols to assist with the heavy periods I now experience as I reach a "certain age". But as I do a little more research I have seen some posts about Iodine aggravation anemia or at least people with anemia not responding well to iodine. Since my anemia (iron level of 11 last time it was tested, right BEFORE my cycle! That is less than a third of what it should be) is the major concern right now, I need to do something fast to get my iron levels up to par. I want to avoid an ablation but I don't want to trigger heart problems or other consequences of long term low iron. Any suggestions?
