Re: Newbie Warrior

I looked up for Arizona and there does not seem to be much there; there is one farm that has some Jersey cows and I think they have cow shares. Worth your looking.

I live in Canada near the NY border and go down to a farm about 30 minutes away from me; I own four cow shares (costing $45 each to purchase). Each share gives me four gallons of milk (I pay $5 per gallon for cow maintenance). I skim the cream off three of the gallons so that I use that in our drinks or to make raw ice cream (totally guilt-free, thank you very much!) and drink the other gallon.

You will find that such a farm has other offerings; that is where I purchase my raw, unfiltered, unheated honey at a great price; free-range chickens and eggs; pasture-fed beef -- which has a different flavour from the grasses and without the drugs (the 'burgers are to die for with this meat); organic fruits and veggies. It is a fortunate find.

It is illegal to sell raw milk here in Canada; there is one fellow about three hours from here who does have cow shares but I think the waiting list is at least a decade long.

In some states, the farmer has to say that the milk is for pet consumption, just ways around the rules.

Organic is still pasteurized. It is the enzymes that you want in the milk; they are killed off in pasteurization.

I think that raw meat aversion is in the head; Rygar is crazy about it, loves it. Raw meat brings me face to face with the fact that this is an animal and I feel like a cannibal at that point -- most disturbing for me. If you sear it, you change it. Steak tartar is raw; sushi is raw. AV has tons of sauces to dress up the raw. Enjoy the books; there is much interesting information there.

Then, when you understand it, you can use it in the Warrior Diet which is mainly about rearranging your eating times.

I hope that you can find some raw milk in Arizona; it would be great for your son. Pasteurized milk caused my younger son no end of troubles when he was young -- even got to pneumonia eventually. Your son may not be that sensitive; our older boy had no troubles.

Last year, I sent for some of the CA cream and butter; it arrived frozen which was fine for the butter, but not for the cream; when thawed, it did not reconstitute -- the fat globules stayed that way. It was not enjoyable and I did not repeat. And expensive. Better to try to track down some cow shares. Otherwise, I think that organic goat's milk is the better choice. Raw butter, just made in the blender is delicious! But, I use a LOT of cream for a small amount of butter.
