When I was in labor with my daughter I got dehydrated (couldn't keep water down). Such a simple thing but none of the nurses or docs attending recognized it until long after my back muscles were in spasm, at which time they had to put me on an I.V. Had I been less mule-headed I would have ended up w/ an epidural as well . . . the dehydration interfered with smooth contraction and turned a hard labor into a truly difficult one . . . I did finally let them induce. Less than ideal but I was a considerable mess by then . . .
