The reason we've tolerated so much war

Is the Bush admin has gone to great lengths to insulate as much of the American public as possible from the effects of the wars. Typically, when a country goes to war, it has to scale back spending in other areas, as well as rationing materials. We have done neither, and so we carry on normal lives without sacrifice. The only Americans that have had to sacrifice are the families that sent their spouses & children overseas, and they've leaned on them quite a bit as their tours have been repeatedly extended.

I guess it's easier to silence a smaller bunch than a large population in line to be drafted and sent to die. Funny how that works. And funny how easy it is to support something of great cost when nothing is asked of you.
