For me - Absolutely YES!
As I've mentioned in a couple other posts I lost a total of 94 lbs.
through fasting. I actually started fasting to cleanse myself after I quit smoking in 2006. After a series of small weekly fasts, I decided to do a 40 day water fast. I lost 61 lbs on my 40 day Water Fast
and then an additional 33 lbs in the two months post-fast refeeding on all raw. Then I did another 40 day juice fast and saw lots of healing taking place during this time.
Dieting never worked for me and I tried nearly everything. Even when I would eat all raw foods it didn't seem the scale would budge. It's almost like the fasting reset my metabolism because it must have been extremely hosed up! Ironically, when I was eating foods I was always hungry. Whereas when I was fasting the hunger disappeared. So fasting was definitely the solution for me. I started it purely to cleanse and ended up changing my life. Multi-tasking at it's finest!
I definitely think it depends on the individual. You will most likely gain the weight back if you don't change your habits. But fasting changed my taste, reset my metabolism (I'm assuming) and gave me a whole new perspective on health.
