Oh weird - only because I used to work at a Vet Hospital many many years ago. I used to run the fecal tests and now I wonder if I ran any on human poop... gross.

Anyway, the in-house tests were run by simply dipping a stick in poop and then adding a solution til meniscus (sp?) formed. Then, you'd place a small square inch thin piece of glass on the meniscus and wait 10 minutes. Any eggs would float to the surface and stick to the glass. You'd then place the thin glass on a microscope slide and view under a microscope. I remember seeing roundworm eggs and giardia on occasion but not much of anything else...
