Keep in mind that too much Iodine in the absence of selenium has been reported to cause peroxidative damage to tissue, so I'd suggest to anyone that they ensure the presence of adequate selenium, a couple hundred milligrams a day and preferably always more Se than iodine. Its also possible that there is bromide hanging in the kidney and for that many MD's have recommended simply drinking a little salt water. Vitamin C and high protein such as from eggs can provide the amino acids necessary for formation of glutathione peroxidase, a key bodily detoxification enzyme, of which selenium is a key element.
