Scared to take it out!

Hello everyone,

like so many others i'm glad to have found this forum! i have had this thing in for five years now, and it's time to have it removed. well past time in fact, as i didn't realize until now that the various symptoms i've experienced over the years were related to this. i had my suspicions, of course, but just never made the connection. in addition to the symptoms that are regularly listed, has anyone had constant and chronic UTI's, bladder and kidney infections? i have been to the hospital more times than i care to count with these issues, mostly kidneys. anyway, since i don't have insurance i cannot afford to get it removed right now. is it really okay if i try to take it out myself?
