It's only if you save seed that cross-pollination is a concern. We don't save a lot of seed, we grow too many varieties to make that option plausible. If one wants to save seed, there must be a distance between varieties grown...and we don't have enough property for that.
So sure, sign petitions, contact your representative, but in the meantime, take back that which is YOURS. The right, and the pleasure, of growing at least some of your own food. It's good, REAL work.
Had things not been so fragmented we would not be in this predicament. I'm surprised that all growing has not been out-sourced already.
