Re: Want to start supplementing; have questions
Red flags went up when I read the following statement:
I currently take . . . and 25 mcg of Levothyroxine (the Levo is to satisfy my doctor).
Should the circumstances arise, what other medications would you take to satisfy your doctor? It is of utmost importance to be in charge and responsible for one's own health without fear of intimidation from the medical profession. And yes, your doctor may very well freak out (been there, done that) but one must stand their ground.
As recently as 2-1/2 years ago, I too suffered from hypothyroidism and also took 25 mcg. of Levothyroxine (synthroid). The funny thing is, I still felt tired with several other symptoms. Iodine supplementation put me back on track and I guess you can say that I am one of those that was able to do without this medication altogether. The result: I felt healthier than I had in two decades. And I regained my energy. Just as a sidenote, the lab tests for thyroid levels are not accurate to begin with.
Trapper is the one who introduced me to iodine supplementation and I give him full credit for my no longer having thyroid problems. So....... listen to him. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
