You may want to run a few more tests to make sure you are following the test procedures properly, but if it doesn't pass the test, it may be a different chemical.

I might add that it is generally accepted to use chlorine dioxide test strips when checking for chlorine dioxide. The chlorine test strips may be reacting to some chlorine in the water...

My general advice is that when you are in doubt, throw it out.

This goes not only for mixing chemicals, but also for mixing doses. If you loose track of the number of drops, throw it out and start over again.
