HCL(hydrochloride acid) is an acid in the stomach necessary for digestion in the stomach. Common in the elderly is low hydrochloric acid thus causing fermentation of foods and bb.

HCL also stimulates the pancreas to release pancreatic juice to digest food in the small intestines. If low HCL are diagnosed then bb and bo can manifest because food is not being digested.
