Years ago, sky high cholesterol used to be a "marker" or indicator of hypothyroidism. Often normalizing the thyroid alone brought cholesterol down.

If she isn't hypo, I would also consider that her high cholesterol may be a compensation mechanism of the body which is trying to protect her. You wouldn't want to mess with that.

When Dr. Cowan was asked what total cholesterol levels should be he answered, "if you're over 50, cholesterol should be at least 200."
